Bobby Jindal on healthcare and ACA--IB's response

Bobby wrote a column on politico. It is typical Jindal---lots of correct criticisms of ACA but the proposed alternatives are rather vague and shallow. BUT I agree with is criticisms.
Here is the column and below the link is my post in the comment section.

Governor Jindal here is the issue that can rescue your career. It is time for a real plan--not a typical Jindal list of criticisms and vague corrections.
You can be a hero--a voice for real health care change.
You know better than I that the real issue is the present health care pricing model. A model with government created floor that keeps cost high.
Are you brave enough to champion a plan that takes the government out of the business of direct purchasing of health care? If so then get behind a subscription based pricing plan to replace medicare and use vouchers to reimburse subscription cost for recipients. Let them keep any money the save below the voucher amount. This will make shoppers out of the people actually using the healthcare. It will allow providers to sell their services directly to consumers and to create reliable income streams to replace fee for service income streams. Insurance companies as we know them will become sellers of subscriptions instead of insurance.
This is a good plan that will "bend the cost curve" as you say and will do so in a major way.

I'm sure Bobby was waiting breathlessly for your commentary.

Fascinating story. Maybe someone should make a movie about it using film tax credits.

I don't trust a politician that had a long term "artificial economy" (Federal money for Post Katrina re-construction) and $100 per barrel oil prices for an extended period of time...yet still managed to put a state in debt to the tune of billions. In short, thanks, but no thanks for his thoughts concerning ANYTHING economic.

I agree with that Jimmy BUT the man will not shut up and does have enough reputation to get some national attention.
He is smart and given his huge political ambition he might be a good choice to carry the mantle for real health care reform. Not just talk but a real game changing plan. He has nothing to lose politically.
He does know ole IB was a huge critic. I would gladly support any effort he might make to change the pricing model of health care and actually move it toward a free market industry.

Really? That's actually kinda cool.
I've never gotten any calls or kudos for all of the suggestions I've given BRAF, DOTD, and the AP and EBR parish governments over the years. I've only twice gotten any correspondence back from an elected official: once a form letter from Denice Marcella asking me to volunteer at an MLK Day event, and one time getting a very well researched and detailed response from then Congressman Jeff Landry regarding why he chose to vote to extend the Patriot Act rather than vote against it as I had petitioned. He, of his staffer, had clearly read my letter carefully and made sure to counter or address every point I made.

No doubt that he is smart. This IS his "area of expertise" as well. Trusting that he will do the job without bankrupting all of us at a faster rate that that shitbag of legislation (ACA), I don't know. I was fooled twice...the third time would be a big dick in the arse, which may or may not be covered by the ACA or his alternate plan.

The good thing is he is not in a position to actually implement such a program.
I would support him being a vocal supporter of a good plan that Ryan and the republicans grabbed onto it.
What I don't want is hastily thrown together ACA replacement that does nothing to actually lower the cost of health care. I am afraid the republicans will move to pass something quick and move on.

Ryan and friends latching onto anything not ACA is my concern as well. I don't want the "just when you thought it couldn't get any worse" fear actually occurring.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rand's plan, which Trump is backing. I can't imagine Rand putting forth something bad, letalone worse than the ACA.

Just a joke king bob. I haven't talked to him in some time
Nonetheless---moving to subscription based healthcare with medicare would be a huge step in the right direction.
We have to attack the pricing model of healthcare that prevents the consumers of healthcare from shopping.
More to the point of this thread--Jindal has an opportunity to heal his reputation IF he will quit his fast talk and propose a detailed game changing plan for healthcare.
