Black unemployment has been on the decline since February — falling from (February) 8.1, (March) 8.0, (April) 7.9, and (May) 7.5 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The national unemployment rate in May was 4.3 percent, its lowest level since May 2001.

Unemployment for black Americans has historically hovered below their white counterparts. The Great Recession drove black unemployment near Great Depression-era levels, reaching 16.8 percent in March 2010. While most Americans were feeling the negative affects of the housing crisis, it was black lawmakers who were beginning to publicly blame President Obama for black America’s morass.

If more people really are gaining employment and it's not just less filing for unemployment that is bad news bears for the Dems.

People could actually vote as individuals based on fiscal policies and their wallet, rather than collectively as segregated groups based on fear mongering. Maybe even be able to afford health insurance they can actually use rather than be a statistical talking point for the left with a deductible that makes it inaccessible anyway

Make less people reliant on government assistance and more people may vote to keep/control their money. Scary times to be a part of the establishment. Who knows, an outsider could even come in and "take your turn." Might actually turn into government by the people for the people, not people by the government for the government.

There was an article in The Business Report a few wks ago, re the effects of immigration on La.'s labor force. In the article, several contractors were quoted as saying they depend almost completely on immigrants because "Americans do not want to do this kind of work". Read in to that as you will.

But when black unemployment was low in Obama's latter years, those numbers were cooked according to the haters of the PT. LMAO

What about labor force participation rate, real median income, food stamp participants ^, home ownership, and the racial wealth gap ^?

All got worse for the AA community under obama

He convinced more people to not look for work, and not file for unemployment. congrats?

If a highschool convinces struggling students not to apply for college or pursue higher education, then touts a higher college acceptance rate, are they really suddenly better preparing [or preparing more] students for higher education?

What has Trump done to improve the economy for black people?

How is this a result of his policies? I'd like to know what he did so we can keep doing it. Help me understand how a president can do things in 5 months that can have this kind of effect.

Your boi is a failure.

Just because fricknuts cooked numbers to cover the fact that he was a failure doesn't mean everyone does it.

More food stamps and free healthcare. Apparently you aren't unemployed if you give up on seeking employment.

People who don't want to work don't have to be "job locked" any more, they can be free to pursue hobbies at the expense of those that prefer to pursue hobbies through having a job.

quote:

Congressional Budget Office yesterday predicted some important information: Obamacare will cause the labor force to shrink.

quote:

“What we see is that people are leaving their jobs because they are no longer job-locked,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters after House votes Tuesday afternoon. “They are following their aspirations to be a writer; to be self-employed; to start a business. This is the entrepreneurial piece. So it’s not going to cost jobs. It’s going to shift how people make a living and reach their aspirations.”

Pelosi said she hadn’t “fully” seen the report, but, “this was one of the goals. To give people life, a healthy life, liberty to pursue their happiness. And that liberty is to not be job-locked, but to follow their passion.”

It might not be related to Trump but the economy is on the rebound and there is a lot more optimism out there. A rising tide lifts all boats.

So you tell us? Were they cooked under Obama, therefore indicating they are cooked under Trump....or were they accurate under Obama therefore indicating they are accurate under Trump? It would appear as if it is picking up steam, so I am genuinely curious if you want Trump to fail as much as you want Obama to succeed.

When the people elect a competent individual to office it is amazing the things that can be accomplished.

We elected a long time successful executive to the executive branch, and the results show that.

Remember election night? When the returns first started to come in the stock market started to go down. When Trump started piling up states in his favor the market had a 1000 point turnaround within hours. The market continues to set records to this day. You remember that? I do.

How can this happen in such a short time? Voter confidence. The people of this country know we have a leader now, not a wimp or someone that thinks "It's her turn". Jobs are coming back to this country. Trump is doing what he said he would do - making America great again, all of America, black, white, Asian, everybody. Opportunity is knocking, answer the door.

MAGA

I think that's what it is. Obama did us all a disservice by re-defining the parameters of "employment" and the warped definition continues today.
