When the government pays you more not to work what difference does raising the minimum wage make?

we haven't raised the minimum wage as we should

Well shite, let's just pay all fast food employees $40 an hour. Ya know, since there aren't any other outcomes to raising minimum wage other than lower class individuals getting rich and moving up in financial social classes.

It's like your idiocy is a virus that keeps multiplying itself over and over on a daily basis.

What?

I don't even know what this means?!?! Is it going to be helped by importing low and no skill labor?

What does any of this mean?

Have you personally tried to hire folks in this demographic? I have, do and will. From personal experience I can make this statement:

At least 20% of Americans in the 24-54 year-old age group are exactly unemployable.

My wife is a lawyer who frequently has interns. She says most of them can't write for shite - these are people either in law school or recently graduated.

When I was a lab TA at LSU I couldn't believe how much effort it took to explain scientific notation - to engineering majors in their 3rd year on average!

I'd argue this is due to the "You must go to college" generation finally making their way into the real world.

My parents did it to me. Fortunately, I was able to take what I learned, graduate, and apply it to my life to get me where I am today (great job, great pay and an enjoyable place to work).

Unfortunately, because of the "must go to college" mentality, you have kids in 4 year programs taking 6 years to graduate with degrees that have no use for.

Vocational schools, technical skills, and other forms of post high school education need to be marketed and touted just as highly as "4 year colleges"

I pretty much agree.

Vo-tech schools and associates degrees actually are making more money right out of school now.

I think student loans shouldn't be available until you've been out of high school for one year. If young people took a year off and learned what it means to work a job and support yourself before they entered college - maybe they would be more eager to pick a major and work hard at it and less eager to sign a lease on a luxury "student" condo.

I'm okay with student loans as they are. They are an extremely useful tool for kids who belong in universities to further their education.

Unfortunately, it gets abused by teens who decide to go to college "just because".

You have to start them on a path to personal responsibility in choosing post high school education early...like freshman year early.

By the time they hit their junior and senior year, they may not know exactly what they want to do (which is perfectly normal and okay), but at least they are exponentially more knowledgeable about what path they need to take as it pertains to vocational school vs learning a trade vs 4-5 year university.

I'm very aware of that. And you agreed with the quote.

Agreeing with idiocy puts you in the same boat as the idiot...
