To be fair Venezuela is a country that Biden and handlers look up too. They want us to become more like Venezuela.

Bernie Sanders loves Venezuela and thinks of them as a model country.

Federal data shows the Biden administration approved 3,557 permits for oil and gas drilling on public lands in its first year, far outpacing the Trump administration’s first-year total of 2,658.

Nearly 2,000 of the drilling permits were approved on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management’s New Mexico office, followed by 843 in Wyoming, 285 in Montana and North Dakota, and 191 in Utah. In California, the Biden administration approved 187 permits — more than twice the 71 drilling permits Trump approved in that state in his first year.

I’m not against this as a stop gap if it we’re coupled with us ramping up our production but this action alone solves no long term issues.

Years back our top 5 importers were

Canada
Mexico.
Venezuela.
Saudi Arabia
Nigeria.

Keystone pipeline was supposed to end Venezuelan oil. So much for that.

frick Biden

I’m not expert on this, but I would imagine despite the lands being approved the oil industry is less likely to expand production and spend money to do so under Biden than Trump bc Biden could pull the rug from under them any day whereas Trump would be more committed to them in the long term. Idk, just my simple minded thought about that

Three phases of the Keystone Pipeline are in operation. They are:

The Keystone Pipeline (Phase I), delivering oil from Hardisty, Alberta, over 2,147 miles to the junction at Steele City, Nebraska, and on to Wood River Refinery in Roxana, Illinois, and Patoka Oil Terminal Hub (tank farm) north of Patoka, Illinois, completed in June 2010.[2]
The Keystone-Cushing extension (Phase II), running 291 miles from Steele City to storage and distribution facilities (tank farm) at Cushing, Oklahoma,[3] completed in February 2011.[4]
The Gulf Coast Extension (Phase III), running 487 miles from Cushing to refineries at Port Arthur, Texas was completed in January 2014,[5][6] and a lateral pipeline to refineries at Houston, Texas and a terminal will be completed mid-2016, going online the following year.[7]

I mean trump couldn't be more committed to them than 4 or 8 years. Oil companies right now have no incentive to pump more oil. If they do the price comes down and their margin shrinks...
