Mike Tomlin told CBS before the game in Chicago that the team was not going to be divided. “If a guy wants to go about his normal business and participate in the anthem, he shouldn’t be forced to choose sides. If a guy feels the need to do something, he shouldn’t be separated from his teammate who chooses not to. So we’re not participating today. That’s our decision. We’re going to be 100 percent. We came here to play a football game,” Tomlin said.

quote:

I was unable to sleep last night and want to share my thoughts and feelings on our team’s decision to remain in the tunnel for the National Anthem yesterday. The idea was to be unified as a team when so much attention is paid to things dividing our country, but I wish we approached it differently. We did not want to appear divided on the sideline with some standing and some kneeling or sitting. As a team, it was not a protest of the flag or the Anthem. I personally don’t believe the Anthem is ever the time to make any type of protest. For me, and many others on my team and around the league, it is a tribute to those who commit to serve and protect our country, current and past, especially the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice. I appreciate the unique diversity in my team and throughout the league and completely support the call for social change and the pursuit of true equality. Moving forward, I hope standing for the Anthem shows solidarity as a nation, that we stand united in respect for the people on the front lines protecting our freedom and keeping us safe. God bless those men and women.

The Steelers must be catching major hell, they are backpedaling furiously.

Pittsburgh is def. not the type of town that would take kindly to this shite.

And I don't personally think a barroom bathroom is the appropriate place to sexually assault a woman.

Nor is your hotel room with staff trying to assist you the appropriate place for your 2nd sexual assault.

Ben sexual assault just isn't appropriate anytime or anyplace.

Unless I misread his statement, I respect it and agree with it. He's acknowledging that their decision was wrong...and is saying on the record that the right position moving forward is standing for the Anthem.

Ben is right.

What a glorious age we live in when a serial rapist feels the need to virtue signal.

This is the problem.

Everyone has a different definition of "equality".

Hiding out in the locker room was even more cowardly than kneeling. Oh and Roethlisberger is a rapist.
