and one of the most eloquent closing paragraphs in a supreme court ruling by Justice Kennedy
have the queers made any of you get gay married yet?
me neither, thank the lord

It's easy to make light of the "traditionalist" position, a position I defended for many, many years.
Why did I defend that position? Because, frankly, traditional marriage between 1 man and 1 woman (certainly not the only arrangement throughout human history) is the foundation upon which western civilization is constructed. Human beings are inherently flawed. So, too, are their institutions. However, this one, when done well, is a wellspring of many, many of the good things we enjoy today.
I was never against accommodations in the law being made for any consenting adult to manage his or her affairs in way that made sense to them. I was for a relatively asexual legal structure that would have identified this very type of relationship that those on the other side from me sought to protect, as well as other non-traditional relationships.
But I defended traditional marriage. Why? It deserved to be defended, period.

if you say so
my position was always to get rid of marriage altogether as far as the state is concerned. Civil unions for everybody.
if you really care that much about the word "married" go find a church to "marry" you

In a perfect world this would be a great solution. In reality it's not possible and legalization of gay marriage was the only real solution.

We might not be as far apart on this issue as it might seem on the surface.

I get chills reading that. Thanks for posting, I'd almost forgotten about this.

Which was exactly the problem. Gays got what they wanted and then moved on to "We want to be married on the church" and "The church can not discriminate against us cause we're freaks".
The whole war they are raging is not about getting some sort of rights for themselves, it's about forcing their perverted lifestyle on everyone else and daring them to object so they can run to the MSM and Gubment and say "Punish them, They are mean to me"
for the record I couldn't care less who marry's who or what they do in their own homes. Never have given much a frick about it, I just recognize it for what it is.

The Leftists could not have settled for this. They needed gay marriage to advance the social disinformation campaign into the public education system.

It's about equality. Plain and simple. People just want to be treated the same. But you have to call them freaks because you don't agree with them. Why is that?

I think this is true for a lot of people. But most gay people don't want to be married. And they don't want to be monogamous once they get married. And they'd really like to completely reinvent what "marriage" means. Other than that, just the same.

most of them were attention whores. they could have easily been married at a Unitarian Unviersalist "church"

What are you basing this on? You can't use words like most without something to back it up.
