I mean do you particularly care about the schools in West Baton Rouge?

Everyone wants quality education for their kids (and relatively speaking EBR pays more taxes than most for their schooling).

You send your kids to EBR schools?

I didn't realize you could "break away" from a city you were never a part of.

Doesn't matter.

A portion of the population have decided this is the best course of action for the good of their families....they don't owe you or anyone else an explanation or an ounce of dick.....

Negative, although I respect his knowledge of what St. George really is.

1. I signed the STG petition both times and will vote FOR the new city if it ever comes to a vote.

BUT...

My fellow STG supporters need to realize a few things.

2. Broome is Mayor-PRESIDENT. If STG incorporates, Broome will still be your Parish President. She will still have the same authority of the new city that she had when it was unincorporated.

3. STG will still be part of East Baton Rouge Parish and subject to all the laws and taxes the parish enacts.

4. It is an absolute fact that our taxes will go up as starting a school district is an expensive endeavor. The folks who think their taxes are gonna be less in STG are simply wrong. Adding yet another layer of government costs money. And the new STG will be yet another layer of money.

5. The vast majority of the paying taxbase will remain outside of STG. The commercial center of EBRP will remain outside STG. We homeowners need to be ready to pay more in property taxes to fininace STG.

The next petition drive will be to abolish the consolidated City-Parish Government. We can change laws too

Nope and nope.

You just said the exact SAME thing on here as FB so it was easy to do the math.
