So the army does not have grief counselors that they can go to when feeling down? I would think they would. Just identify that ones that will give guidance w/o any sort of religious angle and your problem is solved.

I went to a different church every Sunday during basic. Shopped around for the most laid back one and it was definitely the Wicca church, those guys were kinda nutty but they didn't care if you slept which was nice.

Yea I heard they gave out candy and shite.

Military church in basic is like going to church camp in the summer. Everyone gets on fire for god again until that first pass off base when your family ,S/O shows up or when in training and you can finally go out drinking.

Well...they then can just talk to a rock....a plant or a grain of sand.

PS
They use to be called "the Sargent".

So they are pretty much asking for counselors to talk to? What else can an atheist chaplain offer?

They have access to shrinks, who aren't supposed to inject religion into their sessions. This is an attention grab, IMO. Sickening.

Okay. Just identify the counselors that "atheist approved" and the problem solved.

I don't care either as long as we don't have to spend money to hire an "atheist chaplain" when they already have counselors available to them that provides the same service.

This is just as dumb as:

A chaplain who endorses a belief of futility and emptiness

Thing is anyone can go to a christian, muslim or any chaplain for guidance and not have religion pushed on them.

Yep, that's all of us. People who are "angry" at an imaginary being. I don't support the stupid chaplain idea, btw.

Eh. I can see an atheist not feeling comfortable using a religious chaplain as a counselor. However, if they already offer counselors not in an official religious position, the request unnecessary.

I order to declare yourself an atheist you have to possess a faith in the unknowable that religious people can only aspire to have one day.

I can understand why they would desire to have a comforting voice declaring their similar unswaying faith in what they do not know.

there are numerous non-religious outlets for athiests if they need "counseling". this is just another example of whiny athiests trying to stir shite up because they crave attention

So atheism is a "religion"? Where is Roger Klarvin to tell us that atheism is "not" a religion so therefore no need for a chaplain.

If you didn't know; Chaplain according to Webster's.

: a priest or other Christian religious leader who performs religious services for a military group (such as the army) or for a prison, hospital, etc.
