I don't think that is a foxhole. No freaking helmets are even on.

No, they are not literally in a foxhole. During combat and while in an actual foxhole, it's kinda tough to ask everyone to stop firing at them so they can make a sign and pose for a selfie.

Some people, I swear.

Does the whole idea of making someone lie during an OATH not strike people as incredibly stupid?

Hey, you have to say this thing, but it's ok if you don't mean it, because Jesus says it's ok.

My religion continually embarrasses me in the public realm. Only in private does it shine.

So now saying "So help me God" is conversion?

Do any atheist on here use "GD"? Or is it pasta monster?

Don't get mad at me ATL, I don't think you should have to say it if you don't believe it.

I think this thread may be relevant to some of those defending this oath.

Colorado High School Recites Pledge in Arabic.

Atheists are the biggest divas. They spend most of their lives arguing about something they say they do not believe in.

Oh irony

As usual, you are missing the point.

The point is he shouldn't have to say those words at all.

Seems to me to be more un-American than anti Christian, if that's what you are getting at. And for that matter, I'm not up on my Arabic, but I think "Allah" means "the God" in Arabic. Not much difference in saying either.

what would you do if you were forced to say allah instead of "god" in the pledge or oath?

Ok cool, let's switch it to Allah then.

Do you say "GD"? Because if you do, you must be a follower of Christ.

Only if we have them recite it in Arabic, since it is an Arabic word. If spoken in English, it's "GOD". Ok. Good.

Probably wouldn't sound quite right since my Arabic is not very good.

Nope, everyone's going to have to recite the exact pledge but use Allah instead of God.

Seems fair.

Why use one Arabic word, that means "God" in English in an American pledge? Seems like it would just confuse a bunch of kids.

What about YAHWEH? Can I use it since it means the same thing?

Why ask someone that doesn't believe in god to swear an oath to god?

You're trying to apply common sense to something that already makes no sense.
