stated that after trumps phone call Russia has become more aggressive in Syria and that trump will be a silent ally of Assad. Is Assad staying in power a terrible thing for America? Don't get me wrong he's an awful human being and what they have done to innocent people is awful but that's not our job. The point of the UN peacekeeping was humanitarian efforts. The only interests our country should have in Syria is eliminating Isis and we can fulfill our UN obligations if they want to intervene.

We have no role in Syria and shouldn't be there, period. We have done nothing but make things worse there.

It's not a particularly terrible thing for America, and at this point, it's probably better for Syria. But no one should suffer the illusion that Assad is a good leader. The reason Syria plunged into civil war was because of how the Syrian government under Assad met peaceful protests with oppressive violence.

conditioned by propaganda!

same reason that everyone prefaced any positive comment of Trump prior to the election with a qualifier about him being disgusting or vile or not nice...

He's almost certainly better than the alternative.

This is exactly correct. People need to shut the frick up when they don't know what they are talking about.

No, they need to be ruled by a democratically elected constitutional republic which balances power between Syria's different cultural and religious groups, so that all of them have a place in Syria and are treated as first class citizens. Which is to say that the Syrian people should rule themselves.

This. In hindsight which is a key qualifier, removing Saddam Hussein in Iraq was a mistake. He was obviously a controlling force over a lot of Muslim radicalism.
