Written by a Westerner who lived in Moscow for almost 3 years.
Great write-up and encourage to read.
I agree with everything said except for the possible invasion of our mainland if war did break out.

I read it as a threat. Now what?
didn't we have something to do with this?

Russian history is filled with invaders trying to conquer Russia. Napoléon and Hitler are only the latest examples. Russia has always prevailed. Driving in from the airport, you can see exactly how close Hitler came to Moscow. You are also reminded that it was here that he was stopped. Russia is sure that they will repel the newest invader NATO.

I dont think any western nation has any desire to invade Russia. NATO is there to keep the Russians from invading other countries.
He seems to have the cart before the horse.

Liberal Ukrainians and anti-Putin Russians are always very over the top about it.
They have no capacity for measured thought or consideration; it's always "PUTIN IS THE ANTICHRIST HE WILL NUKE THE WORLD WITHOUT QUESTION."
Very matter of fact - they are as brainwashed about the evils of Russia as North Koreans are about the miraculous live they have under Lil Kim.
Russia isn't that bad - I get that Putin's an a-hole and it's corrupt as anything in human history, but at least you have good demographics, iPhones, great food, nightlife, history, etc. It's definitely on my bucket list - I wish I could go during the World Cup and see our Yanks play, innit?

Almost to the airport.
When you drive towards Moscow city center from Sheremetevo Airport after driving for about 15 minutes you pass the monument marking the German army's closest point to the city. It's well within the area of the airport.
If Baton Rouge was Moscow and the Chase Bank building downtown was the Kremlin, the monument would be about the same distance as the Mall of Louisiana from downtown.

If by "we" you mean the U.S., not really. The Russians pretty much stopped Hitler's advance in the early winter of 1941. U.S. wasn't even involved in the war before that, or at least not directly. If by "we" you mean the Allies, then again, not much. The British were pretty much the only ones left fighting by then and about all they were able to do at that time was defend their own territory in an air war.
