Suppose there were people at the highest level of our government ordering the IRS to act as a political weapon. These same people also are in charge of the NSA and DOJ. If they are willing to use IRS as a political weapon, wouldnt them using the NSA as a political weapon be very likely?

Hypothetically(or maybe not), these people have blatantly broken the law. Do we really think that these same people who have so blantantly broken the law are just going to idly sit by as another poltical party takes their power? Do we really think that these people who have control of power like the NSA are going to allow themselves to be investigated and prosecuted?

I dont think these people are going to willingly give up their power. I certainly dont believe they are going to allow a political enemy to take their power with the possibility of them paying for their crimes.

Thoughts?

Get this idea into your head:

Barring a collapse, the size and power of FedGov will continue to grow. There will be no real change in how things are done.

Try to enjoy your life as best you can in the system we have.

Not even then; with a collapse the feds would only seize and consolidate even more power.

There are no real political enemies. The people at the top will never pay for their crimes.

Compliments of neocons. Libs love government, but Bush gave us more government than any President before him.

This is one of the reasons why I don't think government employees should be allowed to vote.

They should be separated from political parties as much as possible and I think that would help.

Well this justifies everything! I'm so glad you posted. I feel so much better.

Now, go outside and wait for the short bus.

Its not just about expanding government, its about expandion of the power that government has, especially individuals at the highest level of government.

The government will grow as much as it can, appeasing the masses along the way. Eventually, it cannot afford to keep the status quo and then stuff gets real.

The only way to stop these guys from gaining more power and/or abusing everyone is by a constitutional convention via the state legislators.

Thugs never give up power voluntarily.

This is what Nixon was doing in the seventies. It's not exactly a new thing.

Things will only change when the general populace cares more about the gov't actions than who is the next american idol.

Learn your history better.

Government overreach on the scale we see it today goes back as far as at least Woodrow Wilson (some would argue Teddy Roosevelt). Go back even further and you'll see isolated instances in the cases of Lincoln, Polk, and Jackson.

I know it's fashionable to hate on George Bush, but to think this all started with him is just ignorant.
