Look at the states poverty level and how they vote.

That should tell you all you need to know.

Many who get wealthy seem to suffer from 'wealth guilt' and begin to use virtue signaling as a salve to try and sooth it.

Yeah. That's it exactly. They feel guilty.

Not that they support policies that put more money in their pockets.

Guilt.

If you get wealthy enough to make the government do what you want, you become liberal.

For the merely well-to-do, they will skew very Republicanish.

Sure. If you ignore the independent demographics in the state and how they vote.

oh no, they don't give up the money, they bring in more, it makes more guilt, they virtue signal by asking for more taxes and welfare for the poor in an effort to sooth the guilt, then they ask for crony government partnerships that will make them richer,

and the cycle starts all over.

Taxes and welfare prevent competition.

Guilt is just a low information way of admitting you don't understand how successful people operate.

If you are smart you can usually think for yourself and understand things and make the correct decision

Yes the founders of Google and Facebook and oracle and most of the tech wealth are so very conservative.

I don't believe we know what any of these people truly believe as the media so demonizes anyone who doesn't share the liberal hivemind. If you are the head of a massive publicly traded organization you are not at liberty to disclose unsympathetic ideology.

It is funny watching the transition of the political parties through the last 30 years. It's almost like they just decided to switch sides. Dems use to be the party of the working class, now almost all hard working Americans vote republican with the exception of the north east which flipped to republican this last election. Hopefully trump has completed the transition because it would be great turning Penn, Michigan and Wisconsin red for a few years.

It depends on how that wealth was obtained.

Earned wealth = conservative
Inherited wealth = liberal

Plenty of actors and actresses are liberal (or at least pretend like they are) and they technically earned their wealth.

That's because they don't want to partake in career suicide.

Conservatives are black listed in Hollywood.

I wish I could see the world as black and white as you guys

Correct it is much more complex.

There are those who to paraphrase Obama can't build that, Like Gore, and the internet, depending upon government to make his feel-good carbon credits actually worth something. Crony Capital liberals.

There are the Patronage Capitalists like Solyndra who got over a half a billion Obama dollars. Liberals!

Then there are the Protection Capitalists who partner with big government to prevent competition from coming after them. Here's some money, PULL UP THE LADDER. Regulation liberals.

There are the Appeasement Wealth faction. "Hmmm, let's see. The conservatives want to leave my revenues untouched, and the liberals want to confiscate it all! OK liberals, here's some money let me live. Also known as the dairy cow defense: Take my milk, but don't turn me into a T-bone! Forced liberal.

Then there is the old marriage to the worker who made the wealth liberal dodge. My favorite was the double dip pickle maneuver! Poor John Kerry marries the formerly poor but now wealthy Teresa Heinz Kerry who married into the Heinz family fortune! Liberals.
