Yes. Yes they are.

In the counties that are home to the public flagship universities, only 8 went for Donald Trump. Three of the eight were SEC.

University of Arkansas
University of Maine
University of Mississippi
University of North Dakota
University of Oklahoma
University of Tennessee
West Virginia University
University of Wyoming

Added: Most liberal counties with a flagship public university

University of Maryland (Clinton +81)
University of California (Clinton +63)
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (Clinton +51)
University of Washington (Clinton +51)
University of Colorado (Clinton +48)

Only the counties that are home to the University of Hawaii and University of Nevada were more right leaning than the state, although they both went for Clinton.

I do know that while I was at auburn there was little to no activist's. If there were, I didn't notice them.

When I visited Vanderbilt, I was quite surprised about the craziness in the protest area.

I don't think LSU does much to shape the political leanings of East Baton Rouge Parish. If anything, it probably pushes it more right of center than it would be without it. It certainly wasn't what pushed the Parish to Hillary over Trump.

One other thing to note. Because Alabama changed their residency laws, they made it to block out of state students from getting residency and getting instate tuition. This is the reason I have never been a resident of that state and I would have to go home to Ga. Add in the rest of out of state students and that sways the county pretty drastically.

Yes colleges are breeding grounds for liberals. But I don't think a college (LSU , for example) has much of an affect on the way a parish/county (East Baton Rouge Parish, for example) votes. Many college students are from different counties and different states from the university in which they attend. So they probably aren't even voting here.

As what poster YA Tittle said, LSU isn't what made EBR turn blue. It was most likely North BR.

Yes. A significant aspect of the liberal progressive strategy is control of all aspects of media and learning. People like Soros knew if they could brainwash young people it would give them a decided advantage in future generations and it has. This trend along with Baby Boomers dying out and the change in demographics in the U.S. does not paint a positive picture of MAGA long term in spite of the current positive outcome with Trump as POTUS.

Somewhat but there are still plenty of degrees where your upper level work is probably taught by conservatives. Mainly STEM fields.

Bubble is an innocuous term. I like to refer to them as "Reeducation Camps" for Americans, where every last ounce of Traditional American norms and values that may have taken root from their parents are exterminated and replaced with the new secular humanist morality and value system.

I think there are some places where they can drive political persuasion and other places, where they don't.

I think Austin, Texas, is an example of a place where the flagship university presence likely does so to a large extent.

I'm not sure what makes such schools more influential on their locales than others, but it certainly seems to be the case.

Maine is a little strange, but let me attempt to explain.

The University of Maine is located in Orono, in Penobscot County which is in Maine's 2nd Congressional District. That's the district that went Trump.

However, the county is very large by area and is on the border of the blue area of Maine, and a lot of the people who work at U-Maine live in one of the blue counties.
