You won't get bashed, but it's always good to have some historical perspective, just to see how bad it could be.
My dad, growing up in Gretna, LA told me about some nights when he was scared shiteless about what was going to happen next. Around the time of all that Civil Rights rabble rabble, there was a minority of white folks that chose to take to the street, throw rocks/bricks through windows, and he and his brothers would just sleep under the bed the whole night, hoping they would go home soon.

That wasn't too long ago, and I'm glad I never had to experience that. Economic pain and hardship? I guess I've been combating that for most of my adult life.

Could be worse I guess

I agree with this. Forcing desegregation on a good portion of the country never really sat well with those that had something to lose. And turning loose a small portion of the population onto a so-called 'level playing field', when they didn't have the tools, skill, or IQ to compete kinda exacerbated the situation.

Stunk for everyone. Now cocks are coming home to roost. A societal breakdown for sure is coming.

Sorry 'bout the last part. Wanted to get that RCD fan feel good statement in.

Hell, I'm worried right now.

It's the makers vs. the takers...and the takers are a bigger voting block than ever before. Plus we get the added bonus of an incomprehensible debt and massive growth/centralization of government power. Honestly, w/ this "perfect" storm, how can things possibly get better?

The boomers do share a huge portion of the blame.

The Baby Boomers had so much potential but they chose to worship at the altar of greed, unsustainable consumerism and keeping up with the Joneses. The very thing they derided their parent's generation for. They pissed away a lot of potential and are the creators of the political divide we see in this country today.

I'm more worried about what kind of people we're leaving behind to run this country.

Nope.

I have faith in America. The worry you express has been expressed by literally every single generation to come before us.

I think our society is too dumb to really want a much smaller government...which would lead to a much better society.

I think the younger generation gets it. We have reached a critical mass of political stupidity in this country and it may get worse before it gets better. The people seem to be waking up and realizing that true creative change comes at the grassroots level, not from the top down. But until the political system is removed from corporate control nothing will change.

If you think the baby boomers were bad. Wait until this current generation is in charge.
Without a doubt it will be the most self absorbed, narcissistic bunch of over-schooled but poorly educated people in history. Armed with their worthless degrees and participation trophies. Not to mention grossly overweight and genuinely soft. Spend any amount of time with a 13 to let's say 18 year old. And you will quickly realize that we are totally f*cked.
I hope i'm wrong, but fear i'm right. Now get off my lawn.

OMLandshark, would you explain to me why you think it is the boomers' fault?

The problem, at least as long as I have been alive, is stupid people breed more. It's mostly because it doesn't affect their lifestyle.

I agree with this. With pretty much all media being the hand of the liberal establishment its hard for people to see through there lies!
