Nobody gives a shite about their faux cause, but many care about their moronic arrogance and disrespect. NoFL for this American.

Yep, eventually it will lose its cache and shock value and the malcontent attention whores will invent some new stunt designed to bring attention to themselves under the guise of some phony cause.

NFL To Bankroll ‘Social Activism Boot Camp’ For Pro Athletes
quote:

The NFL is going to bankroll a “social activism boot camp” for professional athletes in February, according to a new report.

“The league has agreed to finance a social activism boot camp at Morehouse College in February,” ESPN’s Jim Trotter reported on Monday.

The boot camp will reportedly take place over two days and will include professional athletes from other leagues besides the NFL. “And then, the organizers of that curriculum will work with the players throughout the year to try and teach them to get their message out and be most effective with it,” Trotter added.

The NFL has also reportedly agreed to back criminal justice reform legislation recently introduced by a bipartisan group of senators.

The NFL’s reported moves follows players lobbying the league for more support for their political activism.

Congressional Black Caucus’ letter to the NFL about police brutality
quote:

Monday morning, the Congressional Black Caucus — the federal government’s black arm* — sent Roger Goodell a letter supporting protesting athletes.
quote:

WASHINGTON — Cedric Richmond, a New Orleanian Democrat and head of the Congressional Black Caucus, sent the National Football League a letter Monday morning urging team owners to consider the stances of protesting black players in terms of patriotism and combating police brutality.

In the more than 1,800-word letter which was obtained by SB Nation, Richmond — who has spoken frequently in support of Colin Kaepernick and protesting players — invoked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s 1963 Letter From A Birmingham Jail and his book of sermons Strength To Love. King sent his letter to white clergymen who believed in dismantling systemic racial injustice in America, but disagreed with the tactics used by movement leaders.

“For African Americans, it is not about standing, sitting, or kneeling for the National Anthem?it is about unarmed African Americans lying in a grave who were shot and killed by police officers,” Richmond wrote. “It is also about a justice system that says that encountering a Black person is enough reason for a police officer to fear for his or her life.”

Richmond’s letter follows a month filled with protest in football amid continuous verbal jabs from President Donald Trump directed at mostly black players in the NFL and NBA. It’s also following Vice President Mike Pence leaving an Indianapolis Colts’ game in protest of other players protesting, a PR stunt intended to control the messaging around protest.

Players have attempted to make strides with the federal government by repeatedly visiting Congress and talking to lawmakers about criminal justice reform and have considered sponsoring or backing legislation. Some of their main supporters in their policy discussions have been Richmond and his caucus.

*I did not make that up. That's actually how they were described.

If you think the kneeling helps wait until you hear the black power bullshite the owners are going along with to buy the players off.

Seahawks DE Michael Bennett: Jerry Jones Threat to Sit Kneelers ‘Reminded Me of the Dred Scott Case’
quote:

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett compared Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’s decision to sit players who do not stand for the national anthem to the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision. “It reminded me of the Dred Scott case: You’re property, so you don’t have the ability to be a person first,” Bennett told reporters Wednesday. “I think that in this generation, I think that sends the wrong message to young kids and young people all across the world that your employer doesn’t see you as a human being, they see you as a piece of property, and if that’s the case, then I don’t get it. I just don’t get why you don’t see us as human beings first.”

We have to work from the basic premise that NFL football players as a group are as educated and politically astute as the average 7th grader at St. Mark's School of Texas.

Roger Goodell needs to explain things to them in very simple terms:

'Guys, it's like this. The fans hate you for kneeling. The press loves you for kneeling. The fans pay your salary. Who do you want to hate you? It's your choice.'
