twitter do y'all agree, personally I think both the same, hell I could argue the Russians are more justified than we were in irag war, at least Ukraine used to be a part of Russia, both Iraq wars were all about Saddam not selling oil in us dollars

This is so retarded it hurts. Everyone USED to be part of someone. Would you be okay with the Italians bombing London because the Roman Empire used to own England? Would you be perfectly content if the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force showed up one day and started bombing U.S. cities because we were once part of the British Empire?

Why does one need to compare to know we shouldn't be so involved and should find an end to the conflict.

Yes I can.

The selling pitch is the same: "we have to fight them over there so that we don't have to fight them on our own soil"

Exact same as Iraq. And we spent 20 years, trillions of dollars, and many many American lives in Iraq, which resulted in absolutely no benefit for our own country. And ended in one of the most disgraceful military withdrawals in our nation's history.

The only difference is this time it could actually result in WWIII

The other difference is those were American troops in Iraq. Hopefully there won't ever be American troops in Ukraine.

Never said I was "perfectly content" with it just said I could justify it more than just showing up to random middle eastern countries and leveling them because "Merica"

If the left has their way, American troops will die in Ukraine, defending “Democracy.”

I believe that would be Londinium and it would be more accurate to say the city of Rome and not Italy.

Can't say I disagree. Iraq is nowhere near the US. By contract, Ukraine is the next door neighbor of Russia.

If there was a bunch of Cajuns living in south Alabama and those crappy rednecks were bombing them because they didn’t want to live under redneck rule, I would absolutely expect my Cajun brothers to gather arms and save my people. That is a better analog than it’s just some part of Ukraine. There has been a civil war there since 2014 when anti Russian gov took over. The Ukrainians bombed out their own manufacturing hub because of their hate for the predominantly Russians living in east Ukraine

I agree with Anders PooperScooper on this, was it not done with the backing of the UN? Did not Congress approve the action? Now it may have been based on lies promulgated by the CIA and in retrospect was an incalculably huge mistake on multiple fronts but it wasn't hatched and executed solely by a dictator and his military henchmen.
Also, the link shows video of Grozny, which is in Chechnya NOT Ukraine.

Good point! Romans were NOT Italians, I love to see the look on Italians faces when I explain that to them!
The country of Italy did not exist prior to 1888 iirc. The boot shaped geographical peninsula came to be known as the Italian peninsula at some point, perhaps to the ancients I believe but the "countries" there were City-States, i.e. Rome at first then later long after Rome fell it was Milan, Bologna, Venice, etc. All independent of each other and sometimes at war with each other.

You can’t. The US military actually accomplished the goals they had, and after a few months, we occupied the entire country. 1 1/2 years after Russia invaded Ukraine, and they only occupy 1/5th of the country, and are trying to hold what they have. To make matters worse, the country of Ukraine has only existed since 1991, and haven’t done anything to improve their overall military until this last decade. So Russia should have easily steamrolled through Ukraine. Iraq had an actually military and country that had been around for a while.

Both of them are incredibly stupid wars that resulted in nothing but wasted money and lives.

No, it's not. It's a terrible analogy because Alabama and Louisiana are two states inside the same nation. Ukraine and Russia are two separate nation-states.
