Recently I’ve watched a number of Chinese made movies-
Animal World
Yin Yang Master
Green Dragon
Monster Run

And each one of these were highly enjoyable and had zero political messaging.
Strong traditional themes- love, loyalty, strength (men and women), sacrifice, good vs evil, etc…

As opposed to the American movies these days- heavy homosexual themes, racial animosity, leftist political ideology, etc…

With China making moves to destroy any opposition and grab global dominance;I find it interesting their internal messaging is what actually made America the country it once was not long ago.

Sounds like American movies during the Cold War.

And I grew up during the Cold War. I was heavily influenced by that time period.
All my friends (in our 40s) are extremely patriotic and love what this country is supposed to be.

The thing about these Chinese movies (at least the ones above), there is no foreign enemy. The enemies are Chinese in origin as are the heroes.
Now granted, these movies are sort of mythical and historical fairy tales( think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), not modern day context.
Perhaps some other genre would be entirely different.

I mean.. how long has it been since our culture was absolutely revered around the world. the only music, movies, and media the rest of the world cared about was from America. now everyone can take it or leave it. including Americans.

shite man. when was the last time you saw a good movie?

the last time I remember leaving the theater and thinking THAT WAS AWESOME. was like the original matrix or independence day (first one).

My wife and I have noticed the same thing, but with Korean films and TV shows. So much better than current US crap

How many non-US movies are in the top 50 world-wide all time box office, OP?

This is the difference between anecdotal evidence and actual evidence.

Additionally, Hollywood will continue to cater to China because doing so benefits then more financially in the short term.

Following up:

Your argument falls apart under the scrutiny of profit incentives.

Then we have this…

This is a bit too ambiguous for me. Is their internal messaging what actually made America “the country it once was” or was it Americans that accomplished that part?

Choose what you want to see. You want fake propaganda in America... just watch the news.

You misspelled “sounds like American movies when Americans could afford to be proud of being Americans.”

OP buried the lead in his post. Hollywood has always catered to the lowest common denominator. China replaced Americans in that algebra because of the impact it had on the bottom line, not because of some agenda.

And I’m not saying they don’t have an agenda. They definitely do. It’s just not the “main” reason they’re no longer producing a bunch of content that supports our echo chamber.

Apparently you haven't seen their biggest grossing action movie. It was the Chinese vs. the Americans in North Africa. The Americans were led by a evil white guy soldier and the Chinese hero battles it out with him.

Chinese citizens aren't allowed to say whatever they want the way our citizens are. Can you imagine people treating Winnie the Pooh the same way ours treated Trump. They would be dead. So there is no need to interject politics. They just make movies for entertainment.

Their agenda is already implemented. They do not need anymore tactics like we see because they already have 100% control.

The OPs point was that the movies reflected the values of the time, NOT that the movies were responsible for US success.

This has nothing to do with the OP, perhaps you should start another thread??

You really need to lay off the crack when posting. The OP is discussing the far left leaning of Hollywood movies and you say they are catering to the chinese??????

You are saying the chinese celebrate racial diversity, homosexuality, trans, religious freedom, seriously????
