Our Governor was caught up in an alleged affair, wherein he was accused of illegally using state funds to carry out said affair.
State congress begins impeachment proceedings.
Attorney General shuts down congressional impeachment proceedings saying they were just doubling efforts.
Trump is elected, and Senator Sessions is assumed to be a cabinet pick.
AG investigation comes to a screeching halt.
AG Strange interviews for vacant Senate seat following Sessions's Senate confirmation as US AG.
Strange is asked in press conference about investigation into allegations against governor. Claims there was no investigation.
Governor appoints new AG. New AG is asked in press conference if he would recuse himself if he got into office and there was an active investigation into the governor, and he said he would.
Today, he recused himself from said investigation.

So the Governor who used taxpayer $$ to go bang another chick got away with it? Or at least is getting away with it so far.

So far he has, at least as governor. His wife of 50 years divorced him and took 1/2 his state pension.
Oh, and his mistress was his top aide and her husband(who she's still married to) serves in a position appointed by the same governor. It's a huge, ugly mess.

Robert Bentley is slick as hell. Props to him for navigating the shitshow he got himself in as that took real skill. Sucks for the people of Alabama though that they have to put up with his bullshite.

Call your state congressman. Sounds like the only way anything will get done is if the people start making an unholy number of phone calls everyday.

Oh, he's not out of the woods yet. The AG's office is still investigating him and the legislative session that just started has him impeachment on their docket. Though they seem to want to wait for the AG's office to finish their work first.

Honestly, the governor doesn't bother me much. Most of Montgomery recognizes him for the clown he is, and the Alabama governor doesn't ultimately hold much power to begin with.
Something stinks to high heaven with his appointment of Strange to Sessions's Senate seat though.
