Fans of the Tim Allen-starring sitcom Last Man Standing have threatened a boycott of ABC after the network cancelled the conservative-friendly series last week despite strong ratings and critical acclaim.

Last Man Standing ran for six seasons on ABC before being cancelled on Wednesday. The sitcom centered on Allen’s Mike Baxter, a blue-collar marketing director for a sporting goods store and his relationship with his wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis) and his three teenage daughters (Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, and Amanda Fuller).

Silliness.

If the show is good, it will get picked up elsewhere.

CMT already shows it in syndication. I was thinking they might want to pick it but its probably too expensive for them.

Just judging off the premiere show for each season ratings, the show was in decline. It happens.

Also, the other Tim Allen sitcom Home Improvement lasted eight seasons, and that was a hit series, so those shows probably have a shelf life for only so long.

Strong ratings? It had decent ratings overall, but not in the key demos that drive advertising revenue (18-49).

and critical acclaim.
Now this is just false. I'm not pretending critical acclaim is that important, but it was not well recieved critically.

The problem is that Tim Allen commanded a high salary, 2 to 3 times the salary of many other leads in comedies.

The show not in decline. The show was moved and that cost roughly 5% of viewership.

Try again

What makes a show "conservative-friendly" ?

Where as most shows leaned left politically.... this show leaned right. His jokes were about the liberals.

#2 Comedy for ABC and #3 overall scripted television show for ABC. Best comedy on television, imo. Definitely should NOT have been canceled.

They picked up Nashville after abc cut it for being too expensive to produce. They've since killed off the lead character which was the point of the show, so CMT may or may not be a good idea.

When I first heard this story I thought ABC was canceling a popular show in its first season. But, this show went 6 seasons which is actually a good run for a successful sitcom.

I honestly don't see the outrage.

I looked for that and did not see it. You got a link? I'm curious what he wanted.

If sessions were state attorney when tim got busted, he'd still be in prison today. Ironic huh?
