1987, I was gifted with the opportunity to functionally implement cost reduction on a 1500 person plant site. After wandering around for 3 months we settled on a program that promoted 8-9 elements.

Tracking deficiencies was one to enable root cause analys

6 sigma, in which issues were measured against .000001 frequency of recurrence

Work process mapping across departments to move to a more seamless approach

The largest improvement came from team work concepts touching on multifunctional teams, effective use of all members of the team, natural and designated leadership, deliverables and recognition, task charters etc.

Every thing associated with esg, dei, and woke have all worked to destroy any trace of team work. The only growth industry is Human Resources.

Back in the day, it was said that the cost of quality was 20% of a companies total billing. Based on Elon Musk's make over of twitter and the head count reductions in that case maybe it 80%

Even nepotism is the preferable ineffective HR tactic over DEI.

My favorite thing is when companies get so big they have to rely on all this nonsense BS just to realize what should just be common sense

You used metrics, I need feelings to interpret.

My parents were Navy, and I worked at a plant that produced/used awful, awful shite. Either one could kill you quickly. You don't matter, jet blast and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid matter more than you. There is no subjectivity. I may have given you enough of a tip to figure out where I worked. We killed more people than any other plant I remember in the area.

It's just a framework man, a methodology. When applied in combination with said common sense, it will take you a lot farther than common sense by itself.
