Also interesting that his garrison commander and admiral were both clueless that negotiations had been broken, and that the US knew the Japs were going to initiate a war shortly after their ambassadors left DC for japan. Also interesting that the US cracked the jap crypto through the PURPLE MAGIC program, so they had immediate access to jap dip cables for may months prior to the end of negotiations. Also interesting that FDR terminated these two commanders despite tye fact that the incident was not their fault, and repeated attempts by both to reinforce hawaii were denied.
Also interesting that the investigation that uncovered this information is rarely if ever discussed.

Growing up in Baton Rouge, I lived between two WWII vets....one drove Shermans in Italy and France, and the other was an anti-aircraft gunner on a battleship. He was a full-on coonass and hated the Japanese until the day he died. When the Pacfic wing of the WWII museum opened in New Orleans, he was invited to be a guest speaker at the opening ceremonies. He initially did not want to attend, but he later found out there would be veterans from several Allied nations attending, as well as a couple from Japan. He told me he changed his mind about attending because it may have been his "last chance to slap a Jap!" He was a crazy guy but a good man who told me many stories of his service days.

Exactly. I conspire to point out the horrors of the federal government at any opportunity
RIP 250,000 Americans. One day we will learn.

Fortunately, there is intelligent life out there in the real world.

"Tora Tora Tora" has a detailed account of the months before the attack also. It is worth a look.
It's a great movie tat shows the preparation and execution of the attack from the Japanese perspective not o mention what was going on with the American side as well.
Yamamoto helped put it together and said that the Japanese had better deliver a knockout blow and get the carriers or ultimately they would be toast. He understood the awesome industrial might of the United States

The Japanese ambassadors made an unusal appointment with SecState Hull for 1PM Sunday in DC. This was 7AM in Hawaii. Due to the super secret nature of the war/threat message, the Japanese sent it in 14 parts. It wasn't ready to take with them at 1PM so the Japanese ambassador team asked for a 1 hour postponement.
In fact, the US government was receiving the message even faster than the Japanese embassy was, due to the fact that many of the Japanese codes were broken. In the event, Hull received a phone call that Pearl Harbor was under attack even as the two Japanese emissaries were in his waiting room.
So to your ridiculous point, had Hull known the Japanese were breaking off negotiations, he would have had minutes to send the news to Pearl Harbor.
The movie "Tora Tora Tora" develops all this as part of its story.

Also the direction the Japanese came from ( NE) was perfect camouflage/misdirection. it placed them between Hawaii and the US mainland and as such it could look like US planes coming over to the radar guys.

Your conspiracy theories go quite beyond the notion of crony capitalism and corruption if memory serves.

See that's the problem with the simple-minded of this board. If you don't agree with what you're loving government tells you to believe, you get lumped in with every outlandish conspiracy theory out there.
That's the response you've been programmed to give for anyone who doesn't follow the herd.
And then you wonder why I call you sheople.

I was privileged to minister to folks in a nursing home. One of the residents was a 92 year old veteran of the War in the Pacific. A Navy Pilot, he flew fighter planes off the deck of the USS Lexington II. He hated the Japanese. Even then he was still cocky. They were the best of the best. He passed away about two years ago. I miss him still. Took my granddaughter to visit him once. I wanted her to meet a real hero. She was impressed.
God I hate to see that generation pass.

You're right. I must have made that up. You've never posted out the box conspiracy theories on here. You've simply lamented cronyism and corruption in American government and everyone on this board simply found those claims to be OUTRAGEOUS conspiracies!
I don't keep a data bank of your post history handy, believe it or not. But your acknowledgment that you do in fact refer to people who don't share your theories as "sheople" pretty much affirms what we all already know to be true.

Yes, because this board is typically in agreement with and trusts without scrutiny what our government officials say.

Coming from someone who averages over two thousand posts a year - you must be a glutton for punishment for simplicity then.
