That income bracket most likely does their own taxes or hires someone to do the filling out of forms and submits. That's your "low hanging fruit". Above that amount people start paying for professional tax advice and the IRS isn't going to make bank going up against people that are paid to be smarter than the IRS . anybody that thought millionaires were going to be the IRSs targets were willingly naive

Its Karenism in organized form.

Democrats may be right on gender. They may be born male, but they sure as frick dont know how to act like one.

Only jurisdiction in the country where you are guilty until proven innocent. What could possibly go wrong?

The IRS goes after billionaires too. Those are the fun fights.

Have you ever been part of these fights?

I finished up 2 audits this week and both dragged on way too long as the agents just went MIA for months. Neither are billionaires but both are multi-millionaires.

Yep. Argued in Tax court and fed court many times.

I went to full trial over 1.6MM from a trust that had already been drained by the IRS. There was zero money they had not taken. They went to trial “on principal.” That was a fun one.

IRS attorneys are a-holes. I once flew to another state to meet with the Service’s attorney. Got to the office and the secretary said “oh. She said she is so sorry. She isn’t going to make it today. She forgot to tell you.”

Small businesses where owners pull in under $200k in personal income are low-hanging fruit for the IRS and these same people are typically easy to intimidate if they aren't using a good CPA and/or tax attorney to help guide them on their investments in the business and how to properly manipulate the business to maximize LEGAL use of funds in certain questionable, but legal, strategies.

Yup.

It doesn’t have to be 5k. Did my taxes last year, paid 3800. 6 months later got a letter I owe another 300 plus. Then 2 months later another letter I owe 180.
