Why do I keep hearing $25 Billion. Can these people not do math? That's $12.8 million per mile. There's no way it will cost anyway near that.

The same for building a transmission power line, highway, rail system etc. It's still nowhere near that cost. A considerable amount of the property is owned by the federal government already. I'm not a fan of eminent domain, but it does not pay absorbent prices for land. Another large portion of the land I'd expect would be valued pretty low.

EPA is being gutted as we type. Won't need those pesky time wasting environmental studies.

I'm ok with that coupled with actual enforcement of immigration laws, we'll save that many times over in the long run. I'm also not duped into thinking I won't be paying for this either. If we want a wall that's great, but some other country isn't paying us for it outright or behind the scenes. If we start a trade war trying to save face and recoup the costs we still pay for it, although the costs is unnecessarily many times greater.

A precast, reinforced concrete wall, correct? Yes, it is very possible for it to run into the $20 billion range depending on thickness and height.

It's probably going to be at least that much. I heard on the radio today there there is already about 750 miles of wall now and it cost several million per mile. The rub is, that existing wall is all the easiest parts to build. Much of it is in difficult terrain inaccessible by existing roads. Then there are the environmental concerns and property owners.

You mean we don't already have right of way for our own border?

I think part of the problem will be the cost of physically getting to the border. Can you actually get to all of the border easily?

Israeli WallI'm not sure how the costs are being calculated, but the 525 km (326 miles) of the Israeli cost 2.6 billion over 10 years of building. If costs are the same, that would not imply 25 billion alone; however, it costs 260 million a year to maintain.

And despite a businessman surely being more efficient with finances than a typical Politician, there are so many inefficiencies in the government that even he can't overcome. That obviously can't help the cost.

I'm not sure, but I think portions of the wall are likely to be built on private property. But then again, that may have been speculation and there are feasible routes to avoid that.

The Roosevelt Easement is 60' on the border

The Roosevelt Reservation is a 60-foot (18 m) strip of land on the United States side of the United States-Mexico Border under the jurisdiction of the United States Federal Government. It was established in a 1907 Presidential Proclamation (35 Stat. 2136) by Theodore Roosevelt in order to keep the land "free from obstruction as a protection against the smuggling of goods between the United States and Mexico"

It's the border-- federal land.

For what? The only issue that will come up is water irrigation along the Rio Grande.

Trump has a lot of influence over that, and I doubt he will let it get out of control.

court challenges

No one is going to issue an injunction to stop the border wall and the cases will not make it far.
