Media has the people by the balls.

That's why nothing gets fixed in this country, it's so easy to keep the people engaged with bullshite, non-issues, he-said she-said, and identity politics.

20 trillion in debt? frick that, we've got political "scandals" to discuss.

Let's ignore potential impeachment level crimes and just keep on keeping on.

I'm shocked at the number of replies I've gotten from people that don't understand the meaning of the word potential. Some real smart folks in this thread.

18 over a 7 month POTUS Campaign. What do you imagine the calls/emails denominator number would be?

20 trillion in debt will indeed keep on keeping on. Apparently the people in this country are fine with the status quo.

You think Trump and this congress is going to reduce that? C'mon.

The largest number comes from calculating how much the debt increased during Obama's two terms. On January 20, 2009, when he was sworn in, the debt was $10.626 trillion. On January 20, 2017, it was $19.947 trillion.

That's $9 trillion added to the debt under Obama. That's almost a doubling from one president.

Those were really crucial issues of national concern last fall.

Why not? If given a chance, maybe things could get fixed. I know one thing, nothing is ever going to get fixed if Trump isn't given a chance. And any of those other assholes that ran for president, it would have been the same bullshite we got under Bush and Obama.

15 trillion added to the debt over the last 15+ years.

Because people are stupid and the media has complete control over what they hear. They are incapable of critical thinking and the media knows this.

So your premise is that this is preventing the discovery of 20 trillion dollars?

Yeah we should be talking about Trumps massive infrastructure, continuation of foreign wars, and a fricking HUGE tax cut which is not paid for by spending cuts instead.

How would that be?

Just keep melting.

My premise is that our entire political system is garbage and the media is responsible for pushing all the bullshite non-issues into the mainstream to keep people ignorant. That's why the debt continues to rise and the country is falling apart while the politicians do nothing that they're supposed to do.
