Adds Fact Checking to chats. They are ratcheting up the suppression.
-

Facebook is defending a recent update to Messenger that limits the number of times a message can be forwarded.

Users can now only forward a message a maximum of five times, as the firm aims to tamp down on misinformation campaigns - especially about the presidential election and coronavirus pandemic.

If a user is warned about sending too many messages or sending them too quickly, they could now be blocked from posting on Messenger.

I don't use it.

none of you supersmart computer nerds can make a facebook replacement?

right now might be a pretty good time to release a "privacy and free speech friendly" social network.

seriously... facebook is just private company..
we actually are not captive to them.

We give them this power. They don’t take it.

A way around it is to forward messages in groups of 5 or 6 once they tell you you are over the limit. A little more tedious but so far works for me.

????

At one point Winston asked O'Brien if Big Brother was an actual person and O'Brien told him "That's something you will never know."

I’ve read it too many times to count and studied it.

There is most definitely a big brother.

Have you read it?

Taught it since 2002.

So, uh, yea.

It’s your opinion and you teach your students that big brother doesn’t exist?

Do you understand or teach the semantic difference between the big brother ideals of Ingsoc and the nonexistent person in big brother?

Literature isn’t mathematics. You can “teach” whatever you want, it doesn’t make you right or wrong. Just your opinion.

Get off your high horse

incorrect

there's actually quite a bit you can teach vis a vis intentionality, particularly in the case of Orwell whose biography lends a pretty clear lens to his ethos

I mean, you can delude yourself into thinking that teaching it in English is simply 'make 'em up' but that doesn't make it true.

You should read the book. Along with his essays.

You didn’t answer my question. Would you like to reread my post and answer it?

This entire nonsensical set of phrases is meaningless. What are you trying to say?
