Fayetteville Observer
FORT BRAGG — More than a dozen U.S. Army Special Operations Command soldiers were apprehended and questioned last week as part of an investigation alleging drug involvement, officials said.
All 15 soldiers assigned under USASOC were questioned and released to their command, while two of the 15 were “cleared of any wrongdoing,” said Lt. Col. Michael Burns, a spokesman for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Command is the higher headquarters for the Army’s Special Forces soldiers, Army special operation forces and soldiers in support units.
“(The Army Criminal Investigation Division’s) investigation is ongoing, and it would be inappropriate to discuss the status of their investigation,” Burns said. “All soldiers have the right to due process, including the presumption of innocence under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
No arrests or charges have been filed at this time.
The soldiers were apprehended by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division “as part of its ongoing efforts to identify and mitigate the use of illegal narcotics,” CID officials said in a statement.

Locally it was on my news. I swore I heard fentanyl busts surrounding the base as well? Possibly I heard wrong?
But this JUST popped up nationally...
It is a lot bigger than the average bear drug use.

Stunning accusations of sex trafficking and drug abuse by US troops at Fort Bragg

The drug culture that exists behind the scenes at America’s military bases was thrust back into the spotlight this week after a massive sting at Fort Bragg led to more than a dozen service members being questioned and seeking legal counsel.
A spokesperson for the Army has confirmed that 15 people were questioned as a result of a sting operation launched by the Army’s criminal investigations division (CID). Two were cleared “immediately” of wrongdoing, while the remaining 13 requested legal representation.
"The U.S. Army Special Operations Command is aware of the allegations of drug involvement from Soldiers assigned to USASOC units on Fort Bragg," said US special operations command public affairs officer Lt Col Mike Burns.
“We take all allegations seriously and are fully cooperating with the Criminal Investigation Division,” Lt Col Burns added.
But Connecting Vets, a publication that caters to current and ex-military, discovered that the situation extends far past simple allegations of drug use.
According to Connecting Vets, the sting operation launched this week was the result of evidence gathered from the arrests of two other members of special forces last month. One Green Beret is accused of sex trafficking underage girls at local “drug-fueled parties,” and was caught as the result of another undercover sting operation.
It all ended with the latest round of suspects being rounded up, one by one, at Fort Bragg’s main gate.
“It was a trail of tears and douchebag cars,” one unnamed special forces member told Connecting Vets.
Others who spoke to the news outlet described a flurry of personally-waged coverup attempts breaking out across the base as individual service members hid or destroyed stashes of drugs.
It’s just the latest signs of wild and often criminal cultures developing among America’s enlisted, and in particular among the elite units chosen for the most dangerous and important missions under the US military’s purview.

Not really. This shite has been going on for decades. Hell, there was a C-130 crew back in the day that flew from CONUS to APAC hauling stuff to APAC. Some pencil pusher noticed how they burned more fuel coming back to CONUS and started digging. The investigation uncovered they were flying an entire C-130 of drugs back on each trip.

The SEALs were only accused of using drugs. These SF soldiers are being accused of being drug dealers. I have a problem with that. There are rumors they could have been trafficking fentanyl. If so, I hope they spend a lot of time in prison.

Hey man nobody accused the Army of being the smartest branch.
Larger units usually clear customs when they leave theater. But the Special boys roll in and out without much scrutiny.
