When did the President have the authority to just spend $400 Million on student loans at his leisure?
Like a dictatorship under communism going on right now.

If he wants it he should have to say it correctly. We know he can’t even do that, yet the fed continues to roll.

I know this is a tongue-in-cheek question, but there is an answer that is probably more troubling.
Congress has handed almost all of its power to federal agencies, and hence, the president. These grants of power are usually broad and vague because Congress is too lazy to actually legislate (or be accountable).
All this forgiveness is coming through vaguely worded grants of power to federal agencies (i.e., the president).

Question is, why aren’t our other officials stopping the president from spending money on his own?

$10,000 is the ultimate FU amount. It'll piss off the progressives who want total cancellation of student loans. It will piss off those with huge liabilities. it will piss off those who paid back their loans, and those who took advantage of the payment pauses to really at principal. It will piss off the kids taking out loans tomorrow.
It is a total lose lose. Typical of the Democratic party which has been completely unable to read the room for years.

That’s not even worth doing honestly
That’s an insultingly low number if they’re gonna do this.

That's me. I went to Alabama and paid out of state tuition. I paid my parents back and had a loan amount close to 20k after college.
I worked 7days a week at my job and paid it off in 6-7 years and became college student debt free prior to 30.
I'm not special and didn't do anything special. Just made small payments every month.
These little always offended kids can do the exact same thing.

It's a trade off...what about the tens of millions of potential voters who still owe tens, if not hundreds of thousands in outstanding student loan debt?
Something's gotta give here.

The Groomers are politically impotent without their underhanded tactics to buy votes using taxpayer money......America First money being used against us......ridiculously insidious.

I am not for it but...

Bush announced a $17.4 billion bailout to General Motors and Chrysler, of which $13.4 billion would be extended immediately.
quote:
President Bush signed the bill into law within hours of its enactment, creating a $700 billion dollar Treasury fund to purchase failing bank assets. The revised plan left the $700 billion bailout intact and appended a stalled tax bill.

Wife and I are paying back our loans. Don't care for forgiveness because the coast elites benefit the most from it. That said I won't be mad if it the student loan debt is forgiving.
That said. The dems talk a big game. They could have forgiven way more with all that Ukraine money laundering scheme they are running.

He should at least have to use his campaign donations for vote buying instead of our tax dollars or printing more money the government doesn’t have.

1. Take out $10,000 student loan today
2. Have loan forgiven tomorrow
3. Vegas trip
4. $10,000 gone

Yeah...will those of us who actually were responsible and PAID off our OWN debt get reparations? Probably not.
