Is the Old Testament in the Bible?
Are you telling me the 10 commandments have been repealed?
I don't remember that from Catholic school.

Yes

9 of the commandments are in the New Testament; you'd know this if you paid attention. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" from the Old Testament was referring to worshipping on Saturday. In the New Testament Jesus said that He is the Lord of the Sabbath [link=((Matt. 12:8).)](Matt. 12:8)[/link]

I bet there's a lot you don't remember from Catholic school.
Some more info for you to remember.
Jesus observed the Sabbath (Luke 4:16) and never suggested a change to Sunday. He did, however, reject a strict legalistic interpretation of the Old Testament commandment. He said Sabbath observance was not a duty that mankind owed to God. Rather, God made the Sabbath as a day of rest for mankind's benefit (Mark 2:27). Jesus and His disciples did not observe the strict Jewish rules against doing any work on the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-14, Mark 2:23-28, 3:1-6, Luke 6:1-11, 13:10-17, 14:1-6, John 5:1-18).

He was baptized. He was Christian. He never renounced it. He was never excommunicated. What about Fred Phelps Sr? Matthew Hale? The numerous catholic priests who molest children? The idiot who killed the people in the Sikh temple? Tim McVeigh? We can go all day. You may be right about Berkowitz but you're completely missing the point.
The point is: Just because some Christians do terrible things, it doesn't mean all Christians are terrible. You probably agree with me on this, right? Now with that in your head, extend this example to Muslims.

I nominate Spidy as our "Ambassador of Goodwill" to ISIS. I think you should immediately leave for Syria and negotiate a peace accord with those peaceful Muslims. I'm sure most of the PT board would be more than happy to donate money for your airfare.
I'm in for $100.
Good luck.

Tim McVeigh?
Was an Agnostic white supremacist, and since Rex counts Agnostics as Atheists, McVeigh plays for your team.

Are you saying that modern and enlightened Christians realize that the Old Testament shouldn't be taken literally? And that people who interpret Old Testament scripture literally (like Leviticus) are extreme?
Hmmm. I wonder if the same could be true for Muslims?

[McVeigh] Was an Agnostic
Wrong. He became agnostic just before he was executed.
quote:
McVeigh was a registered Republican when he lived in Buffalo, New York, in the 1980s, and had a membership in the National Rifle Association while in the military,[84] but may have voted for Libertarian Party candidate, Harry Browne, in the 1996 presidential elections.[85] McVeigh was raised Roman Catholic.[86] During his childhood, he and his father attended Mass regularly.[87] McVeigh was confirmed at the Good Shepherd Church in Pendleton, New York, in 1985.[88] In a 1996 interview, McVeigh professed belief in "a God", although he said he had "sort of lost touch with" Catholicism and "I never really picked it up, however I do maintain core beliefs."[86] In the 2001 book American Terrorist, McVeigh stated that he did not believe in Hell and that science is his religion.[89][90] In June 2001, a day before the execution, McVeigh wrote a letter to the Buffalo News identifying himself as agnostic.

But again, you're missing the point. I (probably like Rex) am only trying to get you to realize the error in your logic.
You're essentially saying Islam is "the religion of terror" because some Muslims do terrible things. I'm simply pointing out that with this logic you could easily say the same thing about Christians.

there are TWO kinds of Islamics..

Apparently you have no understanding of the Bible and it's teachings, so you may want to step out of this discussion before you get in over your head.

Give it up bro. These idiots won't see the threat until they're on their knees with a rusty knife to their throat about to saw their head off.
Then they'll probably think they deserve it because of their white guilt.

clearly one thing many christians and muslims share is they think religion should be a big part of govt., and THAT, is a problem.

Why would modern Christians not take the Old Testament literally? Was there a literal place called Jericho? But like I have said before, you can't understand a spiritual book without having spiritual eyes to read it with.

Good lord!! You can not be this freaking dense!! No one is defending Isis. No one is saying they are peaceful. No one is saying they can be they can be negotiated with. No one is trying to diminish the threat they pose. The point is not ALL Muslims are terrorists and most are peaceful people. Over and over in this thread and on this board people have implied that all Muslims want to behead Americans and all Muslims support terrorism. This is pure bigotry.

No matter what anyone posts in this thread, if they're in a crowded place and someone starts shouting Alluha Ackbar, they're hitting the deck just like everyone else.

How did you come to that conclusion? And if this country lived more by just the teachings of Christ, it would be a much better place.
