That's just a taste of why most State fans are sick of him. He's the Anti-Les Miles.

Yep, totally agree. Why these coaches don't treat the last minute of the half the same as the end of the game floors me. Being "conservative" or "safe" is one thing, but the man was losing and gave up offensive plays and time on the clock. He even had timeouts left! Guess he'll add them to his collection.

I said that right then. LSU gets ball first of second half. you have not really stopped them, you need to score again before half..... if you want to win. I thought he should have gone fot it...glad he didnt

We appreciated him running the clock out.

Yeah we were all sitting there, wondering why he did not at least try.

Why'd he do the 4th-and-15 play against Auburn a couple weeks ago? That was whack.

Why? Because he's the worst gameday coach in the SEC.

I agree, it was a weak move. For good reason, he does coach Miss. St. and not LSU. But, you still have to get somewhat creative. You dont have to air it out, but at least do something more than just run out the clock.

Its easy to question that move in hindsight, but if we get a pick 6, then he gets criticized for not going into the half with momentum. I doubt they really would have scored any points and I think Croom agreed with that notion. I did expect him to try something more than just running the clock out though.

I'm very disappointed in Croom, I thought he would do well this yr, but what he did at the end of the half lastnight, he should be fired.

all the momentum and he sits on it, with NOTHING TO LOSE, I'd be pissed if I was a state fan

yea but starkville isn't exactly an attractive place to go coach...fire a guy after an 8-4 season and good luck getting anyone worth a shite

This is why Crooms coaches MSU and why Miles LSU. Great programs attract great coaches.

This argument always surfaces any time a coach is on the hotseat, yet a lot of coaches with a lot of past success have been fired, and the schools usually have no shortage of applicants to fill the position.

Georgia fires Donnan after four straight winning seasons and a 40-19 record, they get Richt.
Alabama fires Dubose less than a year after he wins an SEC title and SEC coach of the year award, they get Franchione.
Auburn fires Terry Bowden with a 47-17-1 record less than one year after he won the west, and they get Tuberville.
Alabama fires Shula less than one year after he went 10-2 and finished in the top ten, they get Saban.
LSU fires DiNardo despite his winning record and three bowl wins, and we get Saban.
Arkansas runs off Nutt just a week or so after he beats the #1 team in the country on the road, and they get Petrino.
Ole Miss fires Orgeron after not even giving him four years, and they get Nutt.
Florida fires Ron Zook despite his having one of the best records in conference play in the SEC and recruiting top classes every year, and they get Urban Meyer.
Texas fired Akers, then got Mack Brown.
Oklahoma fired their coach (forget his name), then got Bob Stoops.

This argument has got to be the most overused in the history of completely unsupported bullshite arguments.

There are times when its appropriate to just run out the clock. That wasn't one of them.

You AD needs to go ahead tell Croom its the OC's job or his and he has the choice to make.

Croom is too old school Alabama, and the game is passing him by. He won't be a head coach in the SEC in 3 years.

It would suck if every coach had the same philosophy.

Only reason Sly croom is coach at state is b/c he is black and the beneficiary of jackie sherril's frick ups. NCAA let state off of some serious shite, if they hired "1st black sec coach" His skills as head coach are coming out with every stupid descison he makes. ... not to mention the uphill battel he has in convincing guys to come to starkville mississippi. .500 team is what they are and will always be. I have 2 people that are friends and big state supporters that told me this and these guys know.
