I bought it Sunday, not quite what I expected but pretty fun.
The first 4 phases are more or less mini games. They're really simple and after one or two play throughs, they get a little meh.
The space stage makes up for it in size, there's a lot more to do and it's a lot more complicated and challenging.
The best part is obviously the customization, I find myself wanting to start over and over on new planets just to come up with new creature/structure designs.
Over all it's a pretty good game maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10. It's very casual friendly, which sucks if you like a little more depth but again, the customization makes up for it.

If you liked the sims/sim city and want to mix a slightly simplified version of those concepts with the ability to create your own universe right down to the kind of hat your creatures wear, I'd say yeah lol.
Also not sure if a pirated version would work since half the fun in the game is it automatically downloading and populating your universe with other player's creations. Seems like it'd jack that up if you used a crack or fake cd key.

cool, I got a $50 gift card for some award at work, I can use that and no big deal if its not that great. I love sim games so this might be right up my alley.

got it yesterday and I'm hooked. I am on the tribe stage now and will be wasting some hours on that tonight.
