I just moved to a house in the garden district area of baton rouge and was wondering if yall had any recommendations of some place to pick up some food for lunch or dinner, nothing too fancy though.

Drive away from downtown, between foster and jefferson, you have pizza, cajun, greek/leb, chinese, burgers, bistro, fried chicken, fast food, mexican x2, and a few others i'm sure i forgot. Seriously, you're in mid city, you're gonna eat well!
Hope this helps

Zeeland Street Market-corner of Perkins and Zeeland, open only for breakfast and lunch Mon-Sat(think they close around 2 everyday): great plate lunches and sandwiches.

No. Baton Rouge doesn't believe in putting eating establishments in actual neighborhoods.
Sort of sad, really.

While there is no restaurants inside of the neighborhoods in mid city, just drive down government and look around or perkins road overpass is pretty close to neighborhoods.

"Yvette Marie's" is located in the garden district. Specifically, it is located inside the "ca. 1857" antiques complex...

I had a burger from chelsea's tonight and thought it was pretty good. Better than george's and brew bachers.

Went to Chelsea's Last wed. for lunch and had a terrific chicken fried steak...it was made from scratch...pounded steak and alot of very good breading...served with smashed potatoes and a gravy that was a little heavy on the garlic(but good) and some whole cut fresh green beans...
first time i had been and it wont be the last.

I think Chelsea's is pretty underrated as far as a lunch/dinner place goes.
I've never been disappointed eating there.

Rama has great Thai food. The building is ugly and it's only open for dinner, but it is my favorite Thai in Baton Rouge.

old ghetto wal mart parking lot behind the gas station on Perkins and Acadian. They already have the neon lights up and working, and are demolishing the other buildings next to it.
