Made a trip to Gasden Alabama the other day.

Gasden is the home of Jacksonville State. I was in the finance department at an auto dealer. Seeing my LSU hat, the finance lady mentioned that RP had been in earlier that week looking at a new ride (she said he was driving a Ford SUV). While she wouldn't tell me any of the details of his auto purchase, she did give me some insight into his current lifestyle.
RP is working part time at a dental clinic. He's in patient screening and seems to enjoy it. He has a pleasant personality which goes well with the job. Everyone there has really taken to him. That's the good news. Now the bad. On a more personal note, one of the girls at the dealership (young chick from Venezuela) was assigned by the athletic booster group to be an RP "sponsor". She quit after about 2 weeks - said she couldn't run with him anymore, he's just too wild. Bets are on in Gasden that RP won't make it through the season. He's already missed team meetings and "voluntary" workouts.
My first reaction to this was "I hope the MF never plays again" but after thinking about it I'm really saddened to see some much talent literally go up in smoke. What could hae been....

very sad to see a waste like that but I think just about everyone expected as much.

I hate to be the one to call BS since your story reflects poorly on an ex Tiger, but Jack State is not in Gadsden. Jacksonville State is in Jacksonville which is very near Anniston. Granted, Gadsden is nearby, but Jacksonville State is not there.

I was in Anniston last week and saw two Jac State students wearing ... Geaux Gamecocks shirts. They told me RP had been dominating practice and they were very excited about the season.

Jacksonville is 30-40 minutes from Gadsden, and 20-30 from Anniston. Well within daily commuting distance. Its not like there are tons of job opportunities in J'ville.

Doesn't make the story BS. If you're going to Jax St. then you probably have to hang out in either Gadsden or Anniston, which if you're RP can't be a good situation. He would be the biggest fish in a very small pond. I don't think he makes it through the year. What a waste.
