I was watching youtube videos at work and stumbled on this one of Shaq jumping over a defender to dunk.

"Dale Brown, are you serious?"

I didn't know where else to post this...
note to mods: maybe you should create and sticky an "official" youtube thread for LSU-related videos? I'd be glad to help start one... haha

Now if someone can only find the Glover Jackson dunk from I think 95, then I will be impressed, you had to be there, but I swear he jumped from the 3pt line forward, then twisted to lay on his back as he glided toward the rim. Easily the best dunk ever in the PMAC.

I have to agree...that Jackson dunk was one of the sickest I have ever seen, period. The early description of the dunk was right on! I would love to see that one again...

I was there for the Glover Jackson dunk, but it just can't compare to Vernel Singleton's against I want to say Arkansas St. Vernel came down the right wing on a break, got the ball and took off from what seemed like two steps outside the lane. While he was in the air a defender stepped in front of him. Vernel's thigh hit the defenders head and shoulders causing him to go perfectly horizontal to the floor as he continued to the rim. He slammed leaning more sideways than Jordan could ever manage and then proceeded to land on his feet. The refs incorrectly called it a charge but it didn't really matter. The PMAC was buzzing for about 10 minutes....longer than the buzz from the Shaq dunk shown above. I was there for that one too...I think they were actually the same year. Singleton's dunk was plastered on ESPN's plays of the week. Wish I still had the video. Of all the games and moments I have been present for in the PMAC, I have never seen the crowd so awestruck.

I didn't see Glover Jackson's, but I remember the one you're talking about. Vernel was flying so long the guy actually ran in front of him and took position for a beat before Vernel got there, all while he was in the air and still went on to reach the rim. It was bizarre.

Vernel just might be the greatest leaper that LSU's ever had. Not nearly the talent of Tyrus, but might have been a better jumper.

was there for singleton's dunk. It was the sickest dunk i have ever seen in person. It took a minute for the crowd to react it was so crazy looking. His feet were above his head!

Well, I'm an intern... I get blocks of "down" time between assignments from people who get paid...

I think that's the thing I remember the most about the dunk. The crowd was so stunned and so confused at what had just happened that they had a hard time yelling at the refs and even doing much else than just going "Holy $hit!" The crowd was actually kind of speechless. Shaq's was very similar in that regard because of the fact that he jumped over some guy and the reach back for the ball was so impressive, but Vernel's was that much better because he didn't spread his legs to jump over the defender.....he actually just went over him sideways and from such an incredible distance.

King Joey - I have no idea which of the two, Thomas or Singleton, was the better leaper, but as great as TT's leaping ability is/was, he never did anything like Singleton did that night....at least that I've ever seen. And not to say that was a one-time leap for Singleton as he was well-known for having incredible leaping ability. I was always wanting to see him on a breakaway in a game, but I don't know that it ever successfully happened. The one time I remember him getting an opportunity was against Kentucky in the SEC tourney the day after Shaq got thrown out against Tennessee (if I'm remembering correctly). He had a chance at the breakaway and then sort of stumbled or lost the ball. Other than that, I just don't think he had many chances.

Such a shame that Singleton's dunk wasn't preserved. If anyone should run across it, please post it on Youtube!
