Texas Tigers - license plates may be on the way

I just got this email from the Dallas alumni chapter.
The last first is "a work in progress." Many of you have heard of the LSU Specialty License Plates that are being marketed in Miss. and Georgia. In conjunction with each of the alumni chapters across our good state, we have begun the application process to have LSU plates available in Texas hopefully by the end of the year! More details of this will be forthcoming in the next update but spread the news as we have to presell 1900 plates statewide to begin production. You've wanted them, now they'll be available. We'll have a picture of the proposed plate at the Wed. night Happy Hour so come see the future!

Why doesn't Louisiana offer specialty plates for any out of state schools like other states do?

Florida has HUNDREDS of specialty plates. NONE for out of state schools. Would love to get a LSU plate. Will have to settle for the vanity "numbers."
LSU T1GR on one car, LSU TGR2 on the other.

I bet there will be more LSU plates sold in Texas then any other school except for UT and A&M.
