Do the coaches - or strength coaches ever do regular electronically timed forties through out the year?

I have a chance to win some money on this, so would want only somebody who truly knows the answer to pipe in here. Don't need bad info - Oh, wait... this is the rant.

Well do your best.

Well, I think since he has money on it he is hoping the most accurate method of timing would be used so he could win without some BS 4.21 40 time costing him money.

but consensus hand-timed 40s are how you judge

40s are only a comparison to each other. so you have to use the same standard for all involved

if you want to time actual speed, then yes go for electronic. but the 40s are for comparison with each other

I agree with SFP on this one. Normally, at pro days, there are plenty of scouts there. They'll throw out the watch with the fastest time and the watch with the slowest time and take the average of the others for the "official" 40 time.

OK,

I ask because there is a dude that willing to bet $1000 that most all major colleges DO USE ELECTRONICALLY TIME 40's.

His theory is that strength coaches use the electric 40's to gage how well the weight training translates into speed increases.

Anybody know for sure? Not that I am doubting you SFP -
