Country Boy vs. Redneck

Seems like the term "redneck", a derogatory term for white people not much different than the "N-word", gets thrown around on here indiscriminately, applying to any rural white guy.

There's a big difference.

Country Boy:

Now some literal examples:

Fighting
A country boy will fight you straight up, man to man if you make him, or insult his wife, his mamma, or maybe his daddy; he'll stop when it's over or the other guy says uncle; he'll probably shake your hand afterward and share a beer.

A redneck will fight you for anything; will shoot, stab, or run over you with his jacked-up truck and will fight until somebody isn't moving; if his boys are around, and they will be, they'll jump in without waiting a heartbeat; if he wins he'll taunt you till your dying day; if he loses, he'll be looking for payback when you least expect it.

Women
A country boy treats ladies with respect, like his daddy treated his mamma.
A redneck treats women like trash, like furniture, or like servants. Attitude from a woman will probably get a smack, or worse, a beatin to teach a lesson...

Work & Money
A country boy will work hard and honest and try to make a good livin for his family.
A redneck will shitbird around blowing money on bullshite and not give a shite about how his family lives as long as he can do what he wants.

As with any generalizations, some things may be wrong, and with some the line may be blurred.

I grew up out in the country and knew a lot of country boys and a lot of rednecks. I don't look or dress like a country boy, but I am at heart.

I don't like most rednecks.
