well i have seen firsthand bulls get jabbed or cattle proded before the bulls even get right into the gate before the rider gets in. some do it, some don't. all depends on the event. personally i dont find it abusive due to the fact most of these bulls are healthy and weigh damn near 2,000 pounds. if the bulls were in their dying days then that is a different story.

it also takes a long time or what feels like a long time to get adjusted properly so you have a best chance for a good ride.

usually there are also about 2 to 4 other people at the gate along with you watching to make sure the bull doesn't get too crazy. but it is something no one can ever really control
