hiring a DC. You can not have me believe that he does not have a person picked out. He could easily make the hire now, while in these last few days of recruting before the dead period, to put any remaining doubt that he his here to stay - at least for next season. Your thought are appreciated?

Maybe his hire is coaching a bowl game, and he doesn't want to be a dick about it and take him away from his current team. Just a thought.

AND....NEWSFLASH:

LSU has a DC for the NC game. We don't need a new one at this very moment.

True, but I think everyone, fans and recruits alike, would feel a bit more comfortable if they knew who the hire would be for next year. I do understand the wanting to know.

Is there any remaining doubt he's staying??????? If a contract extension and a dozen news conferences hasn't convinced you he's staying, hiring a DC would? And perhaps, since he has a DC for the BCS Championship game, he need not make an announcement, especially since anybody he is considering has a game to coach as well (*cough* Tenuta *cough*).

He took a pretty long time when he hire Crowton as well. He goes through a process and makes sure he gets a good fit. Why rush into it? I dont think it's really gonna effect recruiting that much.

Tig1969 is right on.

I hope it's Tenuta, and if so, it won't be announced until after the GT bowl game.

Once thing Les has done right for sure, is hire assistants. I'm quite comfortable in deferring to the Hat on this one.

Go back and review how long it took to find a OC last year. It was a pretty good while and it was after the bowl game, if I recall. Chill out. I trust that Miles will take the time necessary to find the right coach that he feels will do the job the way Miles' wants it done. For all we know, he may already have someone lined up, but is waiting to make the announcement because of that coach's commitment to a bowl game.

Belowpar says that Tenuta is on the short list and that they've talked...I have a good feeling about him/his chances. I think it'll be worked out after he leads his team in their bowl.

Who cares what the fans need to feel more comfortable?

Recruits I can somewhat understand, but this is also not that big of a deal. Recruits come to LSU because they want to play for LSU, not solely b/c of the DC. Les can simply show his track record of hiring good assistants (and forgetting to mention Peveto) and let that stand. Besides, most coaches that we would even look at are coaching in bowl games and hiring one right now would do nothing for either school.

Miles took his time hiring an OC, and it turned out great. Don't be in such a hurry.
