My GF (no pics) has a 2009 Mercedes. One of the pieces on the windshield has either been stolen or fell off. She called the dealership she bought her car from and the replacement piece is $157. The problem is that they want to charge her to install it. Wouldn't it be good customer service to install it for free since she bought that car there about 2 years ago?

ETA: It's the drip rail molding that needs to be replaced

I've never known a dealership to do things for free.

Because I looked at it and I really don't see how it just "fell" off

One of the pieces of the windshield?

And the dealer will charge you anything once you drive it of the lot the first time. (Unless you got a warranty.)

She owns a Mercedes, tell her to fork over the $1K to fix it and bend over and take it like a real Mercedes owner

I heard there's been a rash of drip rail molding thefts lately.

Because it's a $150 part plus labor?

The black market on those things rivals that of 21 kilos of blow on the beach in Destin.
