IMO these books and stories are way better than GOT with the intrigue and power grabbing.

Would love to see these done as an HBO series with each book getting a season.

Shogun is absolutely phenomenal(almost finished it and started it Saturday evening), as is Noble House.

Going to start Tai Pan next, and have high hopes.

Anybody else fans of these?

Shogun has already been made into a miniseries. Years and years and years ago. It starred Richard Chamberlain.

And Toshiro Mifune.

But I think it could be a very good HBO show that wouldn't be watered down like the network miniseries.

It was surprisingly OK, for network miniseries. I would love to see HBO take a crack at the others. Loved the books.

Apparently, Noble House was also made into a MS in 1988, with Pierce Brosnan. I had no idea.

I'm reading Shogun now and enjoying it (about 1/3 of the way through. I haven't read the others, but may give them a shot.

I also keep thinking it would be good material for a new miniseries. Much more would be possible now than when they did the original tv production.

Shogun is awesome. I've read it twice.

King Rat is a lighter read but fun and underrated imo.
