The last time I have heard this much buzz about a fight you Damon near have to go back to the days of Leonard, Hagler, Duran

Are there any other fighters out there that can capitalize on this energy created by this fight? Or will boxing just go back to the back burner?

are they going to keep fighting each otehr for the next 10 years? if not, it won't "bring back" boxing

boxing as a major national sport pretty much requires entertaining heavyweights

2 fighters on the brink of retirement fighting won't fix boxings awful structure and lack of real heavyweight star power

it won't bring back boxing because the promoters have priced the casual fan completely out of the market. Do you think the average drive by boxing fan is going to drop $100 to watch this fight? Until boxing returns to the major networks and moves away from pay-per-view, it will be a niche sport here.

no

there is nothing after it, to sustain this fight.

What Boxing needs is 2-3 heavy weights to get the sport going. People love watching the big boys lay the lumber, and go for the KO.

there are no heavy weights, and nothing else to even keep people entertained.

this fight is popular, because the fans finally get the 2 boxers they wanted to see for a decadeish+. It's a sideshow that people want to see, no jump after the fight.

One of these fricks could stroke out during it.

Boxing is dead and Floyd Mayweather is the most boring big-name fighter I've ever seen, so no

I guess that is why I asked, I have paid zero attention to boxing for 10 years but will be buying this fight.

Maybe if this had happened when it should have several years ago and there was enough potential big name talent around them that they would be able to sustain any interest after the fight.

No. They might throw down a few bucks, but not $100.

Lets face it. The average fan with any kind of computer knowledge is going to find a way to stream it/pirate it instead of paying $100 for it.

3-4 years ago maybe. Everyone wanted to see that fight and boxing wasn't that far removed from the spotlight. If it happened then people might have started looking at some of the other fighters and following them. Today it's just two fighters past their prime finally meeting in the ring.
