It's April. No National Championships were ever won in April although Bama has claimed a couple

No new hires, no attempt to allow our athletic QB's to run an offense that actually allowed them to use their athletic ability (as opposed to sticking them under center with 2 TE's).

Nice try at being a smartass, but there are things to do to improve the offense with the talent we have available, but no reports of any such changes taking place.

We had a year to get a very talented QB valuable game experience and didn't do it...seems like we're in the same uncertainty at the position going into the Spring this year. Combine this with being in the toughest division in football and you can't blame them.

wrong, but thanks for commenting on a subject you're evidently, completely ignorant about...

What gives?

Have you seen our QB?
Les is till the coach.

Really, why would anyone predict us to finish anywhere but near the bottom of the west?

Yes we have talent at RB, OL, WR but we had that last year.

We have a lot of unproven talent on D with new coaches. Will we be better, worse, or the same... who knows.

But unless there is dramatic improvement in QB play, we are looking at another 9-4 or 8-5 season.

That's just the reality.

Most likely going to struggle at QB again with a new DC that wasn't exactly great at his previous stop. A lot more questions with LSU than some other programs. That's why. Doesn't really matter...just perform on the field.

Please elaborate. Optimistic for what? A national championship? A 10-2 season with a bowl win? How many games are you expecting LSU to win and how many would keep you content?

I'm not very optimistic either.

9-3 should be the absolute floor for a team like LSU. And 9-3 will get us a bowl game that nobody outside of LSU fans cares about.

And this year, with AJ at QB we will be lucky to get even there

As long as AJ is at QB LSU offense remains predictable and hard to win big games.

Our QB situation still sucks, until proven otherwise.

LSU lost one of the best defensive coordinators in the country.

We hired great recruiters, but lets be honest, the last time our DC had a full time DC gig... he didn't exactly shite rainbows.

It's a similar MO. Talented recruits, limited schemes to get them the ball, and a team that has taken another massive talent hit thanks to the draft.

we had a bunch of inexperience at WR last year, the new coach is a stickler for technique and details, hopefully they'll have a much better year as a unit

you're thinking of last year...we have proven talent at most positions on D this year. Steele is a question mark at this point, but Chief had his faults as well. We should have improved coaching on the DL.

Quarterbacks and bama getting to play us twice has ruined a run by LSU football that could never happen again.

LSU will finish 11-1, winning the West unless the loss is to Bama.

Feel better now?

Can you honestly say we actually deserve to be ranked higher? Our offensive production last year was painful to watch to say the least, and until Les proves he can actually develop a QB then I don't see any reason people should show us any respect.

The burden of proving people wrong lies with Les and the coaching staff. We have the talent to beat anybody but our game day preparations have been bland and half assed the last couple years. If you can't get a QB that can comprehend your system then you should seriously consider adapting a few plays that would allow him to use whatever strengths he has to our advantage.

As far as our Defense, I think we have the talent to shut down anybody. If we have any problems on D it will be the learning curve of getting to know Steele's way.

Today on WJOX in B'ham, the two Bama guys doing their spring game has LSU 2nd in West behind Auburn. Bama third. They think out QB play will be greatly improved, which is all it can do, but both think Fournette is gonna go bananas.

Who was hired on the offensive side of the ball that is going to impact the offense we run?

Ignorance is ignoring history and thinking it is all the sudden going to change.

Offense will be similar to last year, defense will be a huge ? Because we certainly downgraded our DC. I know there are some children on here who got their feeling hurt that Chavis left and claim he wasn't that good anyway, but the realty is he is light years ahead of Steele.

Look back at the SEC over the last few years.

During Auburn's title run under Chizik and almost tile run under Malzhn, they were not expected to be any good.

Ole Miss and State where surprisingly tasteful last season.
TA&M has beaten teams they shouldn't have, and lost to teams they shouldn't have.

The west is so ridiculously talented that anyone can beat anyone. Add in the diffuclt required east match ups (UGA, UF, USCe) the layout can really shift with one game going either way.

It is very hard to run the table in the West.
2014- Bama lost to Ole Miss
2013- Auburn lost to LSU
2012- Bama lost to TA&M
2011- LSU went undefeated during the regular season
2010- Auburn went undefeated
2009- Alabama went undefeated
2008- Alabama lost to UF (SEC Title game)
2007- LSU lost to UK and Arkansas
2006-Arkansas lost to LSU and UF (Sec Title Game)
2005- LSU lost to Tenn and UGA (SEC Title Game)

In the last ten years, 3 teams went undefeated in SEC play (LSU 2011, Auburn 2010, Bama 2009), and two teams went undefeated in SEC West Play (LSU 2005 and Bama 2008).
