I finished it the other day and I liked it. It's a little funny to me that he's blind, but can throw guns and hit people right in the head. He may as well shoot them. The fight scenes are cool even though he fights with sticks.
I like his character.
Foggy doesn't bother me.
The Madame is intriguing and I wanted more of her character. She seems magical somehow.
I like Kingpin's lady even though I rather her with long hair like in MOS or Angels and Demons.
Kingpin is weird but I think it's cause he makes me tense watching. I always felt he was about to freak the frick out and beat someone, which he did.
I never read comics so I don't know the source material, so here's my question.
SPOILER ?

Who is the jacked guy that Stick is talking to?
someone important in season 2
SPOILERS:
Kingpin I believe breaks out of prison and becomes more sadistic, more like the comic book Kingpin.
We learn in the show even though he is "blind" he can still see, although everything he can see is in images of red like fire so therefore he is not technically "blind" how we know it.

I could see him in prison, Avon Barksdale style, for a while, maybe with Underboss story-line being adapted.

I think we learn more about him and Stick in S2 though

Maybe, but I see their organization is big enough for The Defenders to take on. That and Iron Fist's Steel Serpent cameo are the two groups I could see going on. Maybe a gang war that the Defenders are trying to break up.
We've got a long way before DD season 2 (at least 1.5 years before filming starts), I'd see DD focusing back on the Fisk operation (where Wilson's woman) is leading the organization with the Punisher being brought in at that point and maybe Bullseye teased at the end.

agreed.
I'm on the 7th episode right now.
I love it way better than Arrow or Flash.
Can't wait for the Iron Fist tv series...

ETA: that's unrealistic, considering where we are in the calender year.
Well Jess Jones comes out later this year at best, and then you have Cage,Iron Fist and the Defenders seasons to go through, according to the original deal, but it could be fluid.
If they shot Fist, the Defenders/DD 2 concurrently then maybe.
One thing I felt the Phase 1 did wrong was put out IM2 earlier than it should've been done.(If anything, Cap needed two films in Phase 1).

Surprised they didn't start filming sooner, would make more sense since Netflix has yet to have a series really fail and this is a comic series.

I guess experience comes into play. I've known many many lawyers and I know journalistic investigations and both story lines are hogwash.
I literally turned off the show for a bit when Foggy said that he was going to help fix up the old lady's apartment. What dumb fricking lawyer does that. A smart person documents the living conditions to present at a later point to show that the owner is failing in his duties.
I'm a criminal defense lawyer and I enjoy this aspect of the show. Is it realistic? Not really. But it's still more interesting to me than just being a billionaire like Arrow or Iron Man or Batman.
I like his powers although I wish he was stronger. And I wish it wasn't bland Russians. And I wish they used guns more against him. I'm only 3 episodes in but almost every fight is just a fistfight. And he sure takes a lot of licks.

Well they got back DD, Punisher and Ghost Rider two years ago, in part because Fox didn't want to give up Galactus and Silver Surfer to Marvel. The Netflix deal came up in Nov. 2013 They start filming last summer, so they may have moved quickly, but as of now they have Cage cast, so he is next in line and they haven't started filming his series yet, where I imagine Iron Fist might be cast.

Foggy brings out his innner Nash brother though.

I'm four episodes in and I'm really enjoying it. The fight sequence at the end of episode two is a less stylized Old Boy... and with no cuts. Really impressive, technically speaking.
Couldn't disagree more about the writing. It's one of the real strengths of the show, as each of the characters resemble actual people. Now, there's always going to be some comic book requirements here, but they've seemed to populate this world with realistic people. The Kingpin is an interesting character with his own motivations that make sense.
And as much crap as Foggy is taking on here: he's an overweight, addled, affable character created in the late 60s named "Foggy." I mean, short of literally having weed fall out of his pocket, they've done a decent job with his characterization. They've also made him more than just basic comic relief: his scene with Karen in the bar was a nice character moment. He took her out, didn't try to sleep with her in her weak moment, but then made her feel comfortable by explaining everyone's story in the bar.

In for a treat you are. I just finished it tonight. Loved it. It has a few minor issues, but overall a great experience, and very much Daredevil.
