I've been in an professional position in Houston/DFW (Finance)for 25 years but still have my country accent from North Central La. I gave up trying to fix it 20 years ago :)

Every time I meet someone new it's the same shite - "Where are you from"

A girl I grew up with works in the NYC financial district and uses it to her advantage. They all think she's dumb and she lets them think so until it's too late.

I'm from NELA and get crazy looks on a daily basis in South LA. The folks in Acadiana swear I'm a Yankee.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge and people always ask me when I travel if I left my accent back home. Perhaps there isn't an accent from Baton Rouge

People have always said the same to me. Friends from out of state at LSU said Baton Rouge people sound no different than TV.

Had someone tell me 20 yrs ago that TV/Cable would eventually homogenize accents.

With the way people travel these days I'm sure they'll go away eventually
