I think you are full of shite. There is only 1 coin to ever sell for over 8 million.

Under a contract with the UK government, underwater salvagers Deep Ocean Search (DOS) worked for several weeks searching a "jumbled up sea floor" twice the size of London, Mr Kingsford told the BBC.

If any of you had actually took 1 minute and read the article you would have seen where it said that the British government hired this team to look for the ship. There were paid a percentage of their find.

I'll throw this link up to debunk Hammertimes tale of his father selling 2 of the most expensive coins in history:

LINK

His Dad must be Bowers, Stacks or Heritage Auctions. I'm sure of it.

M is thousands and MM is millions.

And you're an idiot.

From Webster's Dictionary:

quote:

noun, plural millions (as after a numeral) million.
1.
a cardinal number, a thousand times one thousand.
2.
a symbol for this number, as 1,000,000 or M¯

From another source:

quote:

Actually either a single or double M can be used for a million. Most people use a single M but bankers use that to designate one thosuand (instead of a K) and use MM for a million.

MM is used by those familiar with financial jargon. Most people use M.

I don't know. It just seems odd to melt them down like scrap.

If you participate in any medium to large business deals at all then you would know MM means millions.

There are only like six coins in the world that have been sold for over $4MM. At $8MM you dad would have to be selling a 1933 Double Eagle, one of the most rare coins in the world.

You know where I live, right?

Do a little more research before you make yourself look like a tool again. Or you can stick to watches and leave the debunking thing to other people

Eta: The $4 "million" for the retards was one of four (don't quote me on that number) that some guy who owned a mint made himself and his family members a while back. This was the one surviving one that he gave to his daughter and he sold it last year.

Don't know much about the $8MM one, other than it is going to the Smithsonian once the guy buys it
