I enjoy geography debates on here.

So are the Dakota's part of the plains, Western Mountain area, or Midwest?

I had this exact question when I worked up there on two different occasions.

Culturally Midwestern.
Physically it's the Great Plains
Some plateaus/hills out west

Went to SD four times last year. Not bad in the summer. Cold as a MF in the winter.

Lived in ND 7 years...

Plains.

Some tree disease killed off the wooded areas a few centuries ago, now the have telephone poles.
