Yes, try it. I haven't been in a while, but they always had good fried catfish and plate-lunch specials.

Their catfish is really good and they have home cooking type sides(greens, field peas, Mac & cheese). It's mainly an older crowd there.

It won't blow you away my any means, but it's a great friendly spot with good home cooking for a pretty reasonable price. I visit about once a month and enjoy it thoroughly.

Have they cleaned up the place? I can recall them being one of the dirtiest restaurants in town according to the DHH website. If I'm wrong, I'll take this down.

I haven't been in years but when I worked off of Essen we would get lunch from there all the time. Really good plate lunches and prices were good as well.

Good question Motorboat. I wish someone would chime in, because though I used to love their catfish..

The last time I took my mother years ago, there were roaches in the bathroom and on the walls at the cashier. Meanwhile the food at the buffet was drying out into crust..

All the while the owner aloofly sat at a table nearby just surfing away on the net in plain view(Johnny DeAngelo also thought this a kosher thing to do in front of patrons)..

Never been back..been almost ten years.

that was for me...

I once did not get a thought that this place is dirty and I am pretty crazy when it comes to cleanliness. I would compare the setup to riverside patty on siegen.

all the dining is basically to the right when you walk in the door. They have a older looking wood paneling counter which is where you pay when you are done. I was definitely the youngest guy in there. The diners were more of what you would see at Picadilly

I used to do the buffet with my grandparents. The food is okay but the filthiest place around. The bathroom looked like a rest area and the tables were always sticky. The owner is a 400lb guy that goes around talking to everyone which annoyed me. You can get better catfish in town. The breakfast was good but if I'm going that way I'll continue on to Louie's.
