Tulane students line up outside the president's office to demand that Tulane divest in fossil fuel companies. Meanwhile, their MacBooks are plugged into the wall soaking up that fossil fueled energy.

As an alumnus I cannot speak highly of the average out-of-state Tulane undergraduate student.

Let's not forget all the oil-based plastic in said computers/phones.

They won't care that they have to pay an extra $15k/year to make up for the loss. Hell, it's just money. Spoken by true elitist liberals.

they are the same ones who decide to pay more for the "green energy" to be delivered to their house.

I mean you're exaggerating slightly but yeah, it's a stupid protest.

It is really sad what has happened to Tulane the last couple of decades. Unfortunately it has happened to almost all of our universities.

Fossil fuel?

Oil takes longer than 6,000 years to simmer, doesn't it?

Those sociology and women and gender studies majors really need that money so their programs don't get axed.

Relative to tuition and their self-assigned importance, yeah they're pretty stupid.

at the thought of these yokels chanting gibberish in unison at an empty office
quote:

"Good morning President Fitts!" the students shouted in a call-and-response format at precisely 9 a.m. "Seventy students stand outside your office because we have not been heard. Your reluctance on divestment does not reflect your students. We are here to ask for your support.

"Whose side are you on, President Fitts? Do you stand with the fossil fuel industry, whose practices endanger our city and our school? Our do you stand with students in support of divestment? We'll be awaiting your answer outside your door."

quote:

The protestors knew Fitts wasn't in....According to Tulane spokesman Mike Strecker, Fitts was on a "long-planned" visit to New York to attend to the seventh Beads on Broadway celebration, an annual gathering of more than 500 Tulane alumni, parents and friends.

70 students out of 11,000? Those 70 obviously don't have the best critical thinking skills but that's an awfully small protest.

Dear President Fitts,

I'm a Tulane Student currently joining Divest Tulane in a sit-in outside of your office in Gibson hall. I'm incredibly concerned with the way that our endowment is being invested. We demand that Tulane University divest from fossil fuels companies as their destructive industry practices threaten the future of our planet and our city.

I'm asking you to publicly support divestment and help us propose divestment to the Board of Trustees.

I'm demanding you to stand on the side of your students. To remain silent in a time of crisis is a failure of moral leadership. I'm eagerly awaiting your response. Whose side are you on?

Sincerely,

Is this a joke? An excerpt from A Confederacy of Dunces? Who wrote this shite?

Unfortunately, these fricktards are decreasing the value of my degree
