what has been your favorite iteration of social networking?

AOL was by far my favorite. instant messages for your current friends, and chat rooms to meet girls. i was in high school when aol first got really popular, and it was the perfect tool.

Message boards like this one. I prefer the wild west days before forced registration, though. I could really get my freak on, and I did.

It used to be like..a small school where you all sit in the same classroom all day. Same teacher for each subject..you had a couple people you didn't like (Alajandro..etc)
Now it's like a community college.

True.
My favorite were the tough guys who would call people out for "hiding behind their screen names" before finding out how incredibly stupid it is to do otherwise.
I also liked being able to log on with any name I wanted. I was Al Sharpton, William Shakespeare, Lord Humungus from the Road Warrior, and many others. Oh the times we had.
